How to start game after Linux Steamclient update of dec 14

Right click on the game in your game list -> "Properties" -> "Set launch options..."

Then use the following launch option:

./hl2.sh #%command%

A fix is being worked on and should be released soon that will also work without a patch needing to be released for HL2 Update.

Attempts at pushing a fix by the developer have failed. Please just use this workaround if you're on Linux or SteamOS.

If this was around december. Then im suprised no one has bothered to find a fix until now.

This is a serious bug. It's a simple bug in the way the launch script specifies the library path. It should be easily fixable. Several community members have described a fix. They should be able to add that.

I agree. Just update the launch files (rename them, create links, whatever), that's a small update of a few KB size only.

OK here we are several months later and this (trivial) run-on-linux fix still hasn't been released. Is the fix in HL2: Update mod or bug in Steam Client?

Edit: OK I'll be more constructive. What can I do to help it happen?

Message direct to developers I think and then find out what they need as help from the community. Then we can discus here.

I'm currently able to play on manjaro xfce linux maybe this is a happy accident?

Maybe try the fan-patch on Github : https://github.com/megakarlach/HL2reUpdate

They said there'll be another patch in a while to account for the new updates.
