To the developers: Please add text chat

Currently there is no way to communicate for people who do not have a microphone.
The game is really fun but some form of text chat really needs to be added or the store page should be updated to make sure people know that they will not be able to communicate if they do not have a microphone.
If possible adding text chat that only displays for people nearby would be ideal to keep it in line with microphone range, but if that is not possible a simple global range chat that can be turned off in the lobby settings for groups that all have mics would be great too.

There was no sub forum for suggestions so i am leaving this in general discussions.

I totally agree with you. Since I am 50% hearing loss, it would be really great to add the text chat in this game..

Proximity text chat with it's size based of proximity of players. Hard to implement, but good luck reading message from the guy that far away.

Text chat will actually effect the game-play, the entire point is proximity. Like Lethal Company, part of the fun is not knowing where people are until you run into them in the world.

Proximity based text chat literally exists in Lethal Company its got a really low max characters per message but it still exists, its the / or - key depending on your keyboard.

some people cant or are not willing to talk. others have hearing issues. it'd be nice to include these people who cant do anything about their circumstances

Text chat is no longer a feature up for debate imo. It's accessibility, just like an audio slider or colorblind modes, which are able to be dealt with outside of the game. Disabled people deserve the ability to use critical functions of videogames too I think.

I have a mic but it's not picking it up, tried communicating this to the others in my first game but couldnt.
not having text is the real disgust.

Ive played more than a handful of games that have local/proximity text chat. Its obviously not hard to implement and it wouldnt hurt anybody. Its an obvious no brainer it should be added.

As much as I'd like that
It would go against the nature of the game.
If we're separated from others, and someone doesn't have a walkie-talkie. They should not be able to communicate with anyone else that isn't within their vicinity.
Whole aspect of survival and horror.
