What is the infection mechanics in the game?
What is the infection mechanics in the game? Yesterday I played, shot at monsters and killed a lot of them and did not get infected on high difficulty. At the same time, the whole team had already died and got infected, only I was left. I was asked why I did not die. One says that he did not fight monsters at all, he was riding a snowmobile calmly, got infected and turned. And I remember an incident when the game had just started, I accidentally touched the fire (without a monster), it wounded me a little, then I sat on a snowmobile before night had even come and I turned. How is this possible? To turn after a few minutes of play, without even meeting a snake or a monster. Developer, or someone, please explain how this works.

There's a server setting to turn on airborn infection, which means just being in proximity to monsters has a chance of infecting you. There's also gunk on the floor (if enabled by the host) that will instantly infect you 100% of the time if you walk through it. It has no visual effect when this happens so you can accidentally step in it and not know your infected until it's too late (unless you test yourself of course)

Thanks, that explains a little bit about what's going on.

not sure on this since i heard it second hand
airborn infection is triggerd when a monster targets the player witch is very dumb, so a monster can spawn half way across the map and infect you by thinking about you.

You have to actually be near them or the dead bodies to become infected with airborne infection. They can't infect you from half-way across the map.

Like others have said this could be Airborn Infection (AI, I don't like this one) or Infection Masses (IM, I use this in my lobbies)
With them OFF the only way to get infected is an RNG chance when you get hit by a monster.

Last night I was playing with a really good team and we were holding out at airport, killed a lot of monsters and ended up with a monster corpse pile that would make us go into the downed/infected position like we were repeatedly being wormed. We didn't even need to step in it and air infection wasn't on either, so the game is still rather buggy when it comes to enemy corpses and what can and can't infect you sometimes.

Never seen that with the corpse piles. Are you sure it wasn't something like a smaller creature that popped off of the larger ones?
