Nuclear Nightmare
Any of ya'll play this game solo? How have your experiences been?
I have only been playing this game solo and feel the amount of entertainment I have gotten out of it has been money very well spent for 40+ hours of gameplay. It's my first early access game. The only unplayable experience I had was when the game didn't launch due to antivirus blocking it from launching until a new update came out. I didn't want to set an antivirus exception just to play a game on the family PC. My perks also became corrupt after that update so I just followed the instructions of deleting all the game files. I re-unlocked the perks normally.

I don't bother using the snowcat nor the helicopter. The snowmobile with the rocket boost perk has been good enough for me. The biggest gripes I have are the following:

1. There's an enemy that can "stunlock" you attacking repeatedly until you're dead. I had a near 10/10 run with Difficulty: Nightmare + Minimum Classified Difficulty: Nightmare and daytime spawns that ended because of being "stunlocked" and killed before I could win.

2. Player vulnerable during an Inspection task. While inspecting, the player cannot pull away if they hear an enemy closing in like you can with starting a generator or dis/arming a trip mine. Having to inspect the several containers at The Shelter is nerve racking at night haha.

For the time being, I just have to adapt my play style and be more cautious. The game is not perfect, but it is playable at least for single player. I haven't had any game crashes. The system I play on is an 8th gen Intel i7 w/ a 3070Ti GPU.

Don't all the monsters one shot you on nightmare difficulty?

Also need to have some kind of vulnerability otherwise the game wouldn't have any challenge.

Also I stopped trying to do solo stuff since my game frequently crashes.

Yeah, there is no stunlock on nightmare, everything one-shots you. If you got stunlocked by the mimic, you weren't playing on nightmare. The only thing that doesn't is the leech enemy which just knocks you down and infects you.

In any event, I did enjoy playing solo nightmare on the previous update. Invincible enemies (always the mimic, sometimes others) completely ruin the experience, though, in addition to the numerous other bugs.

That dang mimic haha. It closes the distance so fast. It just killed me right now while I was inspecting the containers at The Shelter. You guys are right about the one-shots on nightmare difficulty. I was mistaken on my playthrough.

Then I'd love to know why every mimic I ran into in Nightmare skipped the stunlock and went straight to one-shotting me.
For the one that stun locks you (even for when on nightmare if using the 25% to dodge perk) you must have a pickaxe. Basically spam the number key to pull out the pickaxe while spamming left click. If you time it right you can kill them with the pickaxe before they stun you again. Guns never work because the aim is way off with your arms swinging around. However I been able to kill it a few times with the pickaxe after it's played the first attack before starting the next one.

Helicopter is only worth it in the old game where speed is key to do 10/10 on nightmare, however being so gas heavy and slow it is useless this update for speed running nightmare. So using the sled is key for doing that in the latest update. I was able to do that with airborne on and having the chopper was god tier for speed and safety last update.

If you get a bad objective like the one at shelter just skip it, you only need 6 objectives on hard and 8 for nightmare. Airport drones and shelter crates are very bad solo even if you know what your doing. Too much time for monsters to spawn behind you or rush generator before you can do airport upload. Basically check map as your loading in to see objective list and decided which ones you should do or avoid. If doing 10/10 solo this update best of luck rng for objectives and enemy face spawns are against you.

Moving fast, in and out of places is king for survival, never turn on power unless objective requires it to be completed and your able to do it then and there. (Only time otherwise is because you have no pick axe). Keeping the power off and using the pick axe whenever possible will allow you to avoid the trip mines and getting caught with your pants down. If you are good on ammo and weapons don't loot just do objective and move on quickly. Less time in a place the less monsters that spawn in and the more supplies you save. Looting at day is best where as night is... a nightmare. Being caught in tight places like inside buildings are bad. Never try and camp somewhere, staying mobile on a snowmobile is the safest place to be.

There is a bug to move while turning on generator or disabling a trip mine. Simply hold down W and shift while tapping E on the generator to slide forward during animation. Use mouse to steer yourself. Do not press any other key or let off any of them while bar is filling up or it will cancel the interaction. For the trip mine get close, hold S and shift and tap E you should slide backwards while disarming. Just listen for monsters and make sure to slide away from them while interacting. If too many then cancel and kill them first.

Last update solo nightmare with airborne was possible however this update is not do to spawning changes, helicopter nerf, and a messed up loot table. Too many items and ammo can spawn now, preventing you from finding a vax to save yourself. Less vax, targeted while on the ground, and more monsters means you will always die to infection unless you somehow get rng seed where most items are vax.

The moving while turning on generator thing never works for me no matter what I try (the mouse control part). I'm stuck moving in one direction and cannot change direction by moving the mouse at all(is there certain mouse sensitivity options or something I need to change?? it's just not possible to control my movement).

Also what were the perks you used to counter snowmobile bug. I get it everytime this patch

Not him but take winter wonder and fire resistant. They make temperature irrelevant while protecting you from one shotting yourself by accident.

ok thank you. Do you also know why I could never do the moving while generator thing. I've known about it since the beginning. But I'm stuck in one direction. I can't control my direction with the mouse

Go into the settings and enable 3rd person animations, the "motion sick" setting. That should unlock the mouse movement during the sliding to allow yourself to change direction by moving the mouse.

Oh wow... It's just called "dissable first person animations" Not enable 3rd person. WOW I been wondering for so long how I saw some footage of the game where they emoted in 3rd person etc. I figured it was just a thing in the OG version of the game (back in nov) before I got the game in december. Thanks man I been wondering forever why I cant do that generator bug properly
