Kicking down doors is a failsafe added to make it impossible to get trapped in buildings, your character can only kick down a door if they are inside a compound and the power has been disabled via monster attacks. Helpful to make it so you don't get power sealed inside a command station for 70 minutes
It could have been patched out, but I distinctly remember seeing in a video where two people were outside a locked door and they just sorta kicked it down.
It is a failsafe feature, not intended to work that way you are saying
For example, the dev stated that trip mines weren't meant to be the obstacle that they currently are in the game, they were actually meant to be used by the players.
Yet, as they are, they are one of the main causes of player deaths.
I've seen the door being kicked down from the outside, rather than the inside.
As for that use case I can say getting hit and then hitting them while they're stunned works, or executing a teammate that got infected.
You can't get close enough to melee the monsters, because they just attack you and make you drop your weapon.
kinda hard to see that, we had 2 players trying to whack one monster with pickaxes and it did absolutely nothing to it, while trying to hit a door while ally is standing next to it? ally dies instantly. not seeing correlation with damage between to other players and monsters
Maybe it's just inconsistent, because if you ever try to use it on a monster, you get grabbed and drop it.
