Infection and Respawn
*Disclaimer: I haven't played too much upon writing this, and I'm basing this comment off of what I've read regarding this subject prior to posting. Let me know what y'all think.*

I think the game needs to be optimized closer to the inspired source material (The Thing) when it comes to the infection and respawn. Hear me out:
----

Perhaps those who either choose to remain infected or fail to be cured in time become playable entities, but lose the ability for respawn upon death. Those who die violently from monsters directly should have an AI monster take their place, but allow players to respawn since they would be compromised anyhow.

----

OR what if players could instead make a decision when killed directly by a monster to either resurrect as a Thing or pass it off to an AI. If they chose the AI, then they can respawn per usual. Treat the mechanic as a sort of moral system perhaps.

----

The ones who become controlled Thing's are able to act as a basic imitation and play the "stealthy villain". They can either remain hidden as an imitation and pretend to help, waiting for the perfect time to strike, or just go full ballistic if exposed. Their job becomes assimilating others leading to mistrust and eventually chaos. Obviously blood tests would help to expose these players on the Humans behalf, at which point the exposed Thing should act accordingly.

*Edit: Those who choose the evil path and foil the humans as an imitation should have their own perks and skins to unlock, thus having some incentive to playing the enemy. ALSO, the imitation players should be balanced accordingly to PVP standards. Do NOT make them too powerful, but just enough to be a viable threat. Flamethrowers should be their biggest deterrent to exposing themselves outright and opting towards being stealthy.

----

Perhaps MOST IMPORTANTLY these ideas should be properly implemented into a custom game's settings, thus allowing the Host to choose what mechanics to have active prior to a match. Whether that be always allowing players to respawn regardless or setting the game to only feature AI monsters upon death/full infection.
