Shady source code
PSA: Scan your computer

One of the curator reviews for this game references something that happened a while back with this dev: they packaged extremely restrictive DRM with a (paywalled) demo, and the end result is that it bricked a lot of people's computers, including the computers of people who had gotten that demo legitimately.

The Dev denied this, and The Dev even deleted threads here that talk about this - which is going to include this thread at the end of this discussion. This suggests a lack of remorse for their actions, which suggests that they'll repeat it.

I'm not buying this because I'm not risking my computer.

I called them out on one of the posts where they specifically said it was "Malicious code injected by pirates" even though it affected my own PC, didn't brick it, but it restarted my PC without my consent.

Elzee will delete this discussion thread so save it while you can and just repost, unless they ban you.

They already deleted another post about the malicious code that was gaining traction with 11 comments lol

They did respond to a post and say the full release did not have any DRM, so it should not be a problem here?

No, this was a problem what... Like a few months ago? It's not in anymore, because if it was they'd be in extremely hot water for having it in the code, they could be tried in the court of Canada for illegally accessing your PC to restart it and what not.

They're saying that so people don't get the wrong idea about people who have legitimate concerns over it, because there are people like me who know that Elzee will stoop that low and do something that will harm customer's PCs.

The full release has no DRM. I have no control over which threads are being removed, but we as the publishers have worked with the final release for long enough to assure it has no malicious code.

There is no shady code. It's an RPG-Maker engine game with files that are normal for this engine. Several people have run the "code" through various anti-virus websites already, it's entirely safe.

You are making assumptions on the current game based on past versions that still had DRM. Please stop misleading other people.

Elzee was referring to illegitimate downloads from other sources, i.e. if you download the game elsewhere illegally. Valve tests every game before release too, the official version has neither DRM nor any malicious code. The fact that your PC restarted can be tied to other things, but it was not caused by the game's code, as it has no such invasive code in the first place.

yknow, the fact that the threads talking about DRM being harmful (and theres evidence on f95 that people who ran legitimate copies were complaining about being forkbombed or having their saves deleted the moment they used the wrong code) are being deleted is shady as hell, you can go ask the "filthy pirates" themselves for evidence of this

Okaaaaay bud, no he wasn't, how do I know that? Because I'm not talking about the Steam launch here, I'm talking about the crap he put in MONTHS ago, MONTHS. Not this last week, months ago, when I paid on Ci-En to access the DEMO, and I had a program open that Elzee had a problem with, and it restarted my PC, so stop feeding lies, and just delete this thread already like you have been for the last week.

seems like a pointless convo, since Valve test the files

still worth a try, knowing the dev and the fact that the threads werent being acknowledged by the dev themselves and were being deleted instead they probably sneaked something into it

This is not relevant to the discussion of the current, official version of the game. Links to pirating sites are forbidden and will be deleted. The current version has no DRM and no shady code. It's been tested by us, the publisher, and by Valve. It has nothing to do with a pre-release version shared on other websites.

I'm locking this thread now. If you have any relevant issues with the current game, feel free to create an appropriate thread for reports. But please refrain from making threads about pre-release versions of the game.
