I just got a catapult guy join me as a "Secret Collect", I don't know what caused it. It was after playing a run on the final stage. I still had to hire him from the big NPC.

How do you collect knowledge "for a specific monster"? Since then I have completed the game and not found any other secret ones...

I was working under the assumption that you must remain in a stage and learn everything about that stage's monsters, before proceeding. But if you complete all the quests, it forces you to proceed....

Yeah I can confirm the Catapult creature is found by filling out some amount of the library entries. Its not all, as I'm still missing quite a few entries looking back. I didn't unlock it until I had gone back to kill an enemy from another stage that I had missed (and yes you can go back to old levels after you complete the final quest)

Has anyone found any other secrets?

I unlocked the 2nd guy in the all that glitters group. I had forgotten to sell loot for a long time and sold like 30 things at once. I'm not sure if he unlocked because I sold a lot of stuff, or because in that group I had a really rare piece of loot.

I don't remember what group it's from, I'll check when I get home from work, but when you jump out of bed, if you keep clicking, you'll keep jumping, and eventually unlock someone.

Found this one totally by luck, there's a gelatinous cube type monster ( I forget exact name) and I used a food item from a crate while fighting it. It saw it, wanted more, and offered to join.

Interesting, I wonder if there are any other ones you unlock while fighting them. The Geltower is one of the monsters that has ??? as their description at Woodward. The wraith and ninja both have that too and are ones that have a secret to unlock them.

Onion Knight: how do you go back to old stages?!

Uilas: I don't think it's from a specific rare item, because I have played a lot of YMBAB, and got lots of rare finds, and never unlocked another guy. I suppose it could just be "that rare", but then it's not really anything you can work towards either...

Pharaoh says "Loves gold" in the Woodwardpedia. Luca told me it's a clue on how to acquire the other member of that team.

complete the game. the game will allow you to rerun old stages.

wraith takes 0 damage from physical. so im thinking theres something you must do physically to unlock him.

Here's a couple that haven't been mentioned so far:

Black Dragon - In the Gallery stage, watch for a portrait of the Black Dragon and click on it. He should join you instantly.

Wraith - I got this one by beating a wraith with a single fireball (no sword/stave tiles). Not sure what the general unlock reason is but I'm guessing it's to beat a wraith without matching any actual tiles?

So far I don't know how to unlock ninja yet, and one in the glitter team (pharaoh and ??)

What exactly is the point of acing if the only thing that changes is the monster layout in the dungeon and modifiers?

You'd think some of the quests would be more randomized and the upgrades as well, I mean if litteraly nothing changes I could just rerun the gallery over again and again and get the same effect and if I get wanderers then it's litteraly like acing the game.
