Lights Out
To the devs/publishers,

Would you be so kind to explain why Cloud Chamber, which is tied to the internet connection, was removed from Steam so suddenly and without any prior announcement? While this is not an MMO game, it does have certain aspects of it, and it has become a common sense and fair business practice for developers/publishers to provide a counter timer in form of news to their playerbase, usually measured in months, before the final shutdown plug is pulled on the MMO game. This would enable their players to finish up whatever they were trying to do in-game and part with the software.

Sadly, I had this game on a backlog for some time now, but I always intended to play CC eventually since I’ve found the game’s premise interesting. And now I’m getting reports that the game is cleared off the Steam and its servers are down. Could you tell us if the Cloud Chamber will be returning to the Steam or if the servers will be back online at some point? Or at the very least if there will be some sort of patch that will provide offline play?

Cloud Chamber was released less than three years ago, and it seems like it’s already facing its digital death. I do hope this is not the case and that I’m exaggerating. There are many players out there who would like to experience this game, so I remain hopeful that we’ll get some update or news from its developers or publishers.

I'm with you on this. Was watching Youtube and the game looked interesting, realised it was in my library so thought i'd give it a go. Then saw no store page and checked in here and saw this lack of news and the apparent death of the game before I could even play it. **** digital content.

They are trying to market a new game and removed the Steam page to hide negative reviews. Fortunately, nothing of value was lost. Half of the content (the only half really worth seeing) was public domain European Space Agency videos which you can find copies of and more on YouTube, without any of the atrocious design and artificial barriers of this "game."

I was one of the first to experience CC and loved it to bits because of science. Helped the devs marketing it with reviews etc. They seemed like really good guys, but this is unexcusable in my opinion. I'm pretty sure their next game will be hard to "sell" because of this sad fact. There's still people who would like to play the game. Even I would play it again, even though I understand some of the crappiness behind it. Alas, I got to know very smart people playing it, got some really nice discussions out of it. Still, unexcusable.
