Everything on screen dissapears.

OK, so I can boot up the game, main menu works, level select works but whenever I'm in the actual game I either see nothing (except for the coloured bars around the screen) or I can play the game for a few seconds before everything dissapears again. Anyone else have this problem or a solution?

Using Windows 8.1 and with a controller. I don't think my other specs matter for a game like this.
