Nickel-Where To Get It

Apparently, some things only re-spawn if you save and quit while you are in their vicinity. I've found a nickel node that does just that. There are 2 nickel spires in the air dome with the fungu, gargaol fruit, and 2 storage containers. It is easily within reach of the starting base with enough O2, or jet pack upgrades, and probably one of the first places you'll try to get to (other than story locations) just because it looks like something good would be there.
Well there is: nickel. Harvest the 2 nickel spires, save and exit, and when you restart, the spires should be back. This also works for anything else that is gatherable in the dome, including the contents of the storage containers. The containers often have more nickel and fabric, which some people are having a hard time finding. I came back to this dome several times hoping the spires would re-spawn, but it wasn't until I saved and quit while actually inside the dome that they re-spawned. And yes, there is unlimited breathable air in the dome, as well as food from the plants. Just bring some water if you plan to stay a while.

There is also nickel behind the second mission in the base. both single nodes and one to mine.
It is no that hard to find if you explore as the game intended. O2 bottles are not that hard to make either. Just saying. ;)

I have found a TNT-barrel, stocked in a meteroid. After blowing it up, a found another Nickel block in the hole. Also you can find 1 Nickel in the silver blocks.

If you know what the node looks like that you're mining in the mines, you'll recognize them as the same floating in space. Slow down while floating around waiting for the jetpack to recharge, and take a look around. Some of these meteors aren't quite like the others. :)

BUT .. ALL in ALL .. Nickel is Rare and Hard to come by.

clearly too rare. even if the number of asteroids of it isn't lot, each location needs to have some more, and have a few more locations. shouldn't need to reload the game just to get more of such.

"So nickel doesn't respawn like it did in the demo. Nevertheless there's plenty in the Prologue as it is. I fount nodes in Both of the POI's - the old Hub and Cpt Matthews base. Found one node in space on the way to Cpt Matthews. One other node above Cpt. Mat base, up on the left side asteroid and further towards that gate. A bunch of them (4 or 5) in the bubble that @Old Man Gibb showed above this message. Another 2 or 3 close to that other bubble that's far away in front of the initial spawn point, one other at the entrance in that tunnel that has the creepy head-sucker alien flying around. Plus you get nickel drops when mining the silver asteroids (I suggest automatic miner)."

Even after the update today, and checking the various locations mentioned multiple times, I've never seen nickel asteroids except in the two caves with the signal markers, or outside on the surface of the more distant cave, and even then sometimes such doesn't spawn for one or more locations.

Whatever nickel I've found outside of that is what is the loot containers or small rock deposits, nether of which respawn. I can't even I find any fungi except for that one loot container on the gargaol oxygen bubble which also doesn't respawn.

I found 2 nickle nodes and check out the mushrooms there too. ;)

I get a pretty large amount of nickel by placing an auto-miner close to directly above the dome that is almost level with the starting base and North East of the starting base when looking out of the door. For some reason auto-mining the silver in that location has been giving me a lot of nickel. At a different location, closer to the second mission, I get almost no nickel when auto-mining silver. Maybe I've just been getting lucky with the amount of nickel above the dome.

Personally, from the very beginning, I had enough nickel for everything. Even on 8 batteries of 2 levels. And now half the closet is full.
