Have new battery in your inventory and use the X key. Mouse click on the battery you want to switch.

I don't have the luxury of being able to build anything yet lol. I can craft stuff on the starter table and room, but i guess i'm not high enough level to build anything yet. I received blueprints for medium storage locker and something else from the second waypoint. Just stacked my air to make it there and back on my little o2 supply. Cant find it anywhere.

You can make the battery in the fabrication bench in the starter habitat. This game does not have levels so far. You find/unlock blueprints, then you make a building tool. That is where you will see the blueprints you just unlocked.
Check the upper corner of the screen for goals to do.

I just can't get this to work. I've tried with the mining tool equipped and unequipped. I open inventory press X nothing, press X left click battery nothing, press X left click mining tool nothing, then I did it all over but this time left clicking first and still nothing. I have 3 fully charged batteries in my inventory but apparently I'm missing something here. I would tear my hair out but I need all the hair I have left. Oh I also tried holding X down and left clicking and still nothing.

It should be simple enough but it seems not simple enough for my old brain.

TIA for any tips or tricks to get this to work.
