Oh... I thought the show got cancelled.. =/
How is it anyway? Is it as good as shows like Fringe, Game of Thrones, House, Breaking Bad?
edit: I like Sci-fi shows/movies like Gravity and Fringe.... But Helix sucked.
It isn't near the level that those shows could hit. I don't know where you are from, but in the US generally we have such a packed TV schedule Fall-Spring ,that we end up without as much on during the Summer and with lower expectations. Basically a good show during the Summer might not look like much during other times of the year. You may want something to watch, so you lower your expectations.
This show basically ended up like that. Alright fun for the Summer, not a strong contender the rest of the year. It started off slow, which was to be expected because it is a post-apocalyptic show and they usually take at least one season to establish the world and the storylines. You can't just instantly sell people on an alien invasion (In this case). The first season introduced us to characters traveling across the East Coast, in the US, trying to stay alive following a massive alien invasion that killed most of the people on the planet.
Over time, the show did get better. Seasons two and three were actually pretty decent. At that point I would have recommended the show to most people. There was a lot of action and a decent amount of worthwhile storylines, as the people tried to fight back and you learned more and more about the aliens and what was going on in the universe.
The show fell apart last year and barely managed to scrape together an alright end to the season. A few bad storylines and a really annoying new character, ended up almost killing the show. I didn't hate the second half of the season, but I wouldn't have rushed to recommend anyone watching it.
They have had a few storylines that haven't come to fruition yet. Some of them seem like they could be interesting. I think the show will end on a higher note than season four offered at any point.
In short, the show is good enough to watch, but it is by no means one of the first shows I would recommend. It's one of those shows you watch when you are bored and/or when you run out of the really good ones to watch. Hence why it does well enough, in the Summer. People finish off their main TV offerings and then look for some decent shows to get them through. Anyone with access to older TV shows could probably find something better, but it isn't like it is so awful it shouldn't be watched. Just don't go in expecting any of the shows that you mentioned. It's an average show.
It went from humans against aliens to, well, I don't want to spoil it for you but more like humans with alien guns and alien allies against aliens.
Falling Skies is pretty good though, gets a little stale now and then, but what long running show dosen't. TV show is worth a watch, but this game looks sooooooo damn bad
You're telling me you like an "eh" show compared to one of the best shows ever? Smh.
Unlikeable, phony characters. I'm actually rooting for the aliens to win during each episode, but that won't ever happen. The alien invaders are so incredibly incompetent that it's a wonder they took over and occupied earth in the first place. They beat the combined militaries of the earth, but can't seem to beat a resistance group that has no idea what miltary tactics are. And it appears their purpose on this planet is to make children carry scrap metal from point A to point B. Watch season 1 and you'll see what I'm talking about. And the series just gets worse from there.
It has a VERY predictable plot. It's amazing that the show has lasted as long as it has, given the extremely low quality screenwriting. The writers seem to make up new plot points and devices as they go along, and discover they've written themselves into a hole. It is irksome that Steven Spielberg could put his name to this garbage when he has created so many masterpieces.
If you want a good laugh, I heartily recommend it.
1. that is an opinion
2. all the aliens faults are easily explained (eg. most of their troops are brainwashed zombies of another civilisation or children).
3. the resistance group is led by several high ranking miltary personell and professor in milatary history.
4. The aliens are parasites in that they dont build anything themselves they scavenge from the worlds they conquer. Most of the scraps was used to build towers that serverd as miltary strongholds, hangars and i think a forcefeild or somthing(might be wrong on the last bit}.
5. many of plot storylines are fairly obvious but there is enough twists and surprises to rival a doctor who finale.

Aside from that, it was a pretty decent show. Very suspensful, even if the suspense rarely pays off.
The begining of season 4 im convinced they got a new writter. So many ridiculous, complicated plot points were added. Plot holes and convinient coincidences occured. It seemed like they threw everything at the wall to see what would stick.
Also, they litterally are in the EXACT same situation that they were in at the end of season 3. the 4th season basically undid all that season 3 did, but then by the end of the season, put it all back together.
It feels like some amature was told to write season 4, and then halfway through someone with experience came in and was like "Woah, stop all this ♥♥♥♥. go sit in a corner and think about what you've done. Now how do I salvage this mess you made without making it more stupid?"
The last few episodes, with the exception of 1 or 2 stupid moments, were actually pretty good though, and makes me actually want to watch season 5.
