The best 2 stats?

Armor and Luck seem outstanding in this game. Armor performs as straight mitigation rather than some sort of tapering damage % reduction and it glosses over a lot of my noob mistakes. Luck gives way better upgrades in-game and outshines any increase in actual XP.

I assumed at first that damage and cooldown would be more significant but the more I play, the more I believe that stack luck and armor and things will go my way.

This is true, with 170 armor i was taking 0 damage on max difficulty from little mobs and maybe 100 from the big crabs, i felt like a hacker to the other people. Not complaining, i took 4 armor upgrades and the armor relic.

Dodge is better than armor. I got it up to 88% in a run and never took damage again.

But only on infinite where you have time to make use of it

I like a good offense, for the best defense. So.. damage + cooldown, and if possible, double-cast augmentation (if relevant). But if I see a +6 luck, I am getting it.

I like dodge and high life more, because coupled with the defensive relic you can become invincible.
