Full Chapter 1 Review/Feedback
Great job on the game so far! I can only imagine the hard work you all have put in and as marketing/pr peep I’m excited to see how you all advertise it \o/

I played with my friends for ~2 hrs last night and here are some thoughts.

LOBBY:

Pros -
- I love the characters they are so fun
- The art style overall is super expressive and detailed
- The use of color-grading and lighting is so beautiful
- Simple user interface feels nice
- The second lobby (once inside the van) is AMAZING so many eastereggs and love the mini game

Cons -
- Sometimes in lobby one of the party members doesn’t get the option to change their character (arrows don't appear)
- There are settings you can’t change once in the lobby that would be useful (push to talk etc)
- Once you ready up in lobby you can’t unready you have to leave
- Sometimes as party leader the start button doesn’t work even if everyone’s ready
It’d be nice if party leadership transferred to the next player when you leave. If you’re party leader and leave the party it closes the lobby entirely instead of passing ownership on. This is frustrating when everyone gets into the lobby and the team leader needs to tweak settings only available on the main menu… but unlike the other members who could just leave and rejoin, it causes the entire party to have to reassemble.

GAMEPLAY:

Pros -
- The story elements feel awesome
- It’s so detailed and feels super immersive
- Love the van setup and the screens it feels very legit and very 80s
- Sound effects are awesome
- The jumpscares are really good and feel in character with the games art-style
- I like that the ghosts switch rooms and that the available hiding spots rotate making it important to prepare
- The items are super fun and I really enjoy the variety especially the metal detector and the sage spray
- LOVE the sock-puppet shopkeeper and how he closes up when a hunt starts he’s super funny

Cons -
- After Alice finishes running she sounds pretty harsh like she swallowed a box of nails all other characters sound fine though
- In the exorcism of Emma, once you unlock the first door, I believe one of the audio queues is off. The door opens and is really loud compared to everything else going on, not in a jumpscare way but more in a “ouch my ears that doesn’t seem like what they intended it to be” way
- Spectating mode feels awkward
- The motion blur is super dizzying especially once you get equipment set up in the room. - We felt like we would only be able to play a few rounds before feeling sick but then we turned off the lens flare, chromatic aberration and depth of field which helped. But it's still uncomfortable sometimes
- All of the basic items seem to work smoothly but I have yet to see the G.R.I.D projector in one of my games

Super fun spooky game overall! We didn’t complete the first exorcism, just gave it one run. I’ll be sure to come back and share more if we complete it and get to Chapter 2!

Wishing you all the best,
