You could try a discipline build which allows more consistent burst damage and help with perils. Useful especially come late game for dealing with palace stuff.
But if you do that option, choose the Wit quest immediately and get at least 4 wits as soon as you can. Unless said reward is an apprentice. Which yeah, it's the best card for Brun hands down.
Ring wise. Amethyst is pretty good if you have the Think amulet, but might prove underwhelming with the other amulets. Jade is more versatile with every other build. Especially if your wanting a more bulkier build like Soak/Resist.
Taaffeite ring if you got the dlc shouldn't be slept on either. The extra shield and + 1 spirit in forests can really help. Only use this one with Think though as the extra wits will allow you to capitalize on the + 1 magic from night time more frequently.
Scratch is a trap. Don't use it as it makes Brun's weaknesses more relevant.
Brun has the potential to be one of the deadliest Rot players. But, due to how unreliable it is. I'll only shoot for it if you get Warlock and some rot card luck. Being able to spam rot cards for power and leech off kills feels really good to use with Brun's explosive power. But, using it as a game plan to win consistently is a fools errand.
