what is ghor's ability?
The description says annulment of a single attack, so I stabbed Ghor more than several times and he just lost his tree armor?? How are non-mages even supposed to fight him.

His armor cancels out the next instance of damage, regardless of how much damage that is. If you really need to move him, hit him with chip damage from the spell deck first. They're relatively common and even 2 spirit casters can use them.

In practice he's not too big a deal, because hardly anyone plays him.

All those stabs and slashes you see at the end of a combat scene after all the dice have been counted are just for show. They all count as a single instance of damage.

As for how to counter the armor, do as the guy before me said - cast some card on them that does damage to cancel out the shield before you attack. Ghor's armor gets taken away from ANY instance of damage (with some exceptions), even the damage from something as simple as running over a swamp tile, so you can use things like that as well to make him vulnerable.

I'm guessing River's single damage preemptive strike works, too.

I've not tested it, but I would think so yes. The damage happens before you go into combat.

His ability should be nerfed..

It's already marginally useful, because of how many ways there are to inflict 1 damage on a hero. Even low Spirit heroes can do it. And if I guess right about the direction of the nerf you are suggesting, then it will be even worse than just taking Resist amulet.

Idea I just had: How about if pierce die can deal their damage even through his shield? That could be interesting. :)

They should do this
Low spirit heroes aren't likely to draw 2-mana spells

You could just not fight him and let other heroes, curses and guards do the job for you. Or wait till they killed the armor for you.
And to get the armor in the first place, he has to be in the right place at the right time which doesn't always happen, either.
I don't think he's anywhere near OP.

Yes, but once he has his armor it lasts indefinitely or until he takes damage, doesn't it? Or does it get taken away eventually, say at the end of the next turn/day or the next dawn or something? If not, having it taken away after a while could help give other heroes more chances to attack him.

Ghor's armor lasts indefinitely once its effect triggers til it breaks. The only instance where I've seen the armor not be able to shield any damage is via starting day rot damage. I don't see it as OP personally after playing as him a lot, since using any damage inducing cards or any rot applying cards either cancels out the effect or ignores the effect entirely. There's a load of ways to counteract ghor due to these cards. Play your deck smartly, and you'll be able to kick around that bark ball every which way you want.

Plus, when these players continuously go for the ability, they're putting less focus on their quests. That usually gives other players an edge on them through quest leads, so try not to focus on them too much... Unless you need to kick his furry butt out of your way.

Good point. There's usually not a forest in the perfect spot, often you have to slow yourself down if you want to end your turn on one while still heading towards your quest.
