Chainmail Shirt and King's Guard Armour Should/Shouldn't Stack

Not sure how to put it, but at the moment, when a hero equips the Chainmail Shirt and the King's Guard Armour, it seems that the effects of both come together and I am not sure whether it's supposed to work that way. For example's sake, I roll two Suns during a night battle. With the KGA equipped, they will serve as shields.

With the Chainmail Shirt equipped, one of these Suns becomes a Reflecting shield. Was this supposed to happen? I'm wondering whether it's actually better to have the two items work individually rather than together. E.g. I roll three Suns during a Night battle. I get two normal Shields and one Reflective Shield.

Could swear there's a thread here where a dev said that gear stacking is working as intended, but I can't find it with a brief search. I'll keep digging, but off the top of my head those scenarios you mentioned check out.
