2.0 a complete joke and failure.
Like I understand you are a small team and yada yada. However, if you are going to sell on steam I think you deserve harsh criticism regardless of your size and what not.

2.0 is terrible. For me, its one of the biggest disappointments in patches for gaming in general, at least to my recent knowledge (I play many games).

You guys have made every part of the game more ugly and more difficult to navigate.

All that was needed was balance, new content, and FIXING THE MPLAYER. Which is still not done and I am assuming will never be at this point.

I will be uninstalling due to this patch. The game was fine before, now you changed everything for no reason, put resources into things that didnt need to be done. You devs FOCUSED on problems that werent even there and did things that nobody asked for. It runs even crappier now as well the main menu looks like crap.

How about you make your game actually FUNCTION like a finished game before you people start changing everything. The game is still barely functional. Its really just a terrible terrible choice of priorities.

Please, for your next game, make sure it actually works before adding content and changing things for no reason.

I have no idea what people keep complaining about. I came back to the game after a long hiatus easily navigated these “confusing” new UI changes got a bunch of preset load outs for each character and got right back into it. The biggest change I’ve found is that I can pick quest options now giving me a little more control over it which is nice. Oh and the dc=afk instead of bot which is bad and sucks but they already said it’s being worked on. After being away for so long I came back and enjoyed the game enough to farm chests for a couple days got a bunch of new dice and bought the bandit clan dlc. So I really have no idea what is so wrong with Armello 2.0 besides some technical issues they are working on.

I dunno maybe I’m just jaded from far worse experiences. Likely e have you even played robocraft or stellar is? The devs practically remake those games each year.

You said you would like to give actual criticism, but what I see you do, is complain.

How about you start this off on a non toxic base, and actually tell the devs, what exactly needs to be fixed in your eyes, why the things look "crap" in your opinion and what about the update was so wrong.

Saying things like "Mplayer needs to be fixed" doesn't help. What needs to be fixed?

This attitude you're showing right now, doesn't help anyone. The devs won't know what it is that you're suggesting, the players that read this don't seem to understand either, and you're comming of as incompetent.

Please, if you want to complain, that's okay. But give constructive criticism at least.

The good thing about the new character selection is that you can save your loadout, the ring and amulet, for each character. No need to repeat those choices you usually pick for that character.

The game was bugged when 2.0 was launched but they're hammering out those defects. The devs need to test their releases better before launching it.
I can't say I'm amazingly enthused by 2.0 either, but the OP could certainly have clarified his points. There're certainly many problems with 2.0, but being vague won't highlight or solve any problems.

This is just off the top of my head:

-Numerous bugs still not fixed. Cub's blood still doesn't draw the closest bane to the tile; it instead draws a predetermined one over. Yordana's curse of fate still does absolutely nothing. To LoG's credit, they did fix a couple of old bugs -- after months.

-Complete utter fail at LOLORE, which was supposed to underpin several hero balancing decisions in the past. Bios for each hero of poor quality, previous bios for Horace, Zosha Barnaby, the bandits, thrown out the window and replaced with more generic pablum. Ghor's lore is for his previous hero power, conduit. The entirety of The Winter Wolf thrown into the trash bin. Hargrave. Numerous basic English spelling errors in the hero bios; Griotte's glorious accent to the throne (sp). Extra punctuation on the feed.

It's like they just threw an unmotivated intern on it and called it a day without giving it even a basic pass for QC.

-Quest roulette is a lie. We slowed the game down to 20% speed and tracked the symbols on the roulette; they do NOT match. Pass/fail symbols do not match the actual outcome. Giving people the illusion of choice only backfires when they realise it's an illusion and just get even more ticked off than they would have otherwise. The decision to introduce the quest roulette only extended the questing system, made questing take more time, and ticked people off.

-Skinner box mechanics: LoG simply exchanged one set of cheap mobile game gacha mechanics for another; now that countries are clamping down on lootboxes as a form of gambling, they've moved to level grinding and repetitive action.

Are there good points? Yes. I kind of like the hero loadout system, and the fact that you can't see who is in the lobby; I would personally extend that all the way to not being able to see who you're with until you're actually in-game. However, the OP is right in that it's all bells, whistles and cosmetics, and nothing to do with the actual game itself, which technical issues aside, has a whole bevy of balancing problems that could be addressed.

I felt I didnt need to clarify, its like beating a dead horse at this point. Search the forum and my post history.

Like I said, things were changed for NO REASON and the devs did not focus on IMPROVING the game, instead the CHANGED the game.

Fix the mplayer as in

-freezing
-afk punishment
-leaving punishment
-desync
-time to find a game
-rankings/leaderboards
The game is functional, what you say is completely misleading.

And you're that guy with "casual" nick who raged over the game not having any punishment system. It's ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ Armello, this is not a major competitive game. Chill your balls man.

Now 2.0 was major let down regarding game balancing, and fixing minor bugs that are widely reported on the Bugs section. But by god, I was really hoping for some ring rework, and maybe even some hero talents rework, just to make things fresh again.

I really enjoyed the new character selection system with the loadout stuff and dice for each one. Loved that part.

But I was too expecting far more. About the ai taking afk places, they'll fix it, so I don't think there's more than just wait for the patch.

And everytime I get a disconnect is because of something on my end. So I don't know about the desync thing.

Rankings and leaderboards? Boy, you're out there arent ya?

I love how people are going against what Casual/DLFM iare saying, yet the game is currently sitting at Mixed recent reviews and has bled majority of the population gained from 2.0 introduction.

Personally, I prefer stats over fanboys going full defense mode.

I just replied to a negative review giving credits to the reviewer for raising valid points. Armello community is not that stubborn as you're picturing it.

I'm pretty new to this game. So far the experience is amazing and only few bugs appeared during the multiplayer games.

The biggest issue to me, as a traditional Chinese user, is the translations are horrifyingly awful. I'm so glad they've launched the community localization project. Hope this game will become more awesome after devs stabilize 2.0 patch.

WELL PUT

The only disapointment with 2.0 as a single player is, that there is no new content/no new game modes. Thats what i was hyped for and then there was nothing.... And then i went and bought with my money smallworld 2 and am now playing the hell out of that lovely little digital board game.

  • Freezing: While I haven't been playing for as long as others, I have looked into some of the history. As far as I can tell, the devs are continuously working on freezing issues. I.e. they don't wait for major versions. The current freezing issues seem to be a result of implementing the highly requested reconnect feature. And I expect once those issues have been ironed out, stability will be noticeably better.
  • afk/leaving punishment: These seem to be at odds with your "time to find a game" point. If you increase the punishment (by any method), you'll likely just increase wait times. Something must be done to curb abuse, but it's a bit of a balancing act. You certainly don't have access to the hard data that would be required to plan any potential adjustments.
  • Desync: I don't know what you're referring to here. So, no comment.
  • Time to find a game: There are some options here, but the main way to achieve this is to get more people playing multiplayer. And without a shadow of a doubt 2.0 has been developed to stimulate interest. Whether you like some/all/none of the changes is irrelevant; the devs did stimulate interest. What's unfortunate is that from my observation, 4 major issues have led to a bad experience for many new players, so the surge has somewhat fizzled. My point is, blaming/accusing devs of not attempting to address this issue is highly disingenuous.
  • Ranking/Leader-boards: Just because you want it, doesn't mean it's a good thing. If it's the kind of feature that could attract more players, then maybe it's worthwhile. Personally, I'd only be interested from a statistical standpoint, but would rather avoid the elitism such a feature could attract.

So far my response looks like I'm an apologist for the devs. Let me be clear that I'm just responding to your post. For example, I mentioned 4 major issues with 2.0; two of them cannot easily be justified. In particular, the UX around multiplayer with friends is simply incomplete. (Luckily it doesn't affect me.) There's a huge difference between MVP and short-changing on basic usability. The fact that this was incomplete was a known issue. It has unsurprisingly been a distraction from some of the obscure and unexpected bugs that cropped up. There are other changes that should have hit the cutting floor long before this one.

So do I think 2.0 was a perfect release? No.
Do I think it was as you describe: "a complete joke and failure"? Absolutely not.

I sincerely believe you're overreacting because the devs didn't implement your personal wish-list. And you've failed to consider the full consequences of some of those wishes.
