Character Guide: Ghor, the Wyldkin
Another day, another guide! I want any critique, comments about topics I should've covered, questions, comments, concerns, hate mail... you name it.

If I can improve on this guide, I want to know!

It's quite funny, really, how starkly Ghor's personality contrasts with his power and reputation. See, Ghor is written to be this friendly, frolicking forest fellow, an awkward, oafish fellow with a heart of gold. His lines include such gems as "I'm very angry with you! Sorry," "Please leave me alone," "I like to be alone," and "Come find me in the forest!" He's a simple bear that would rather stay in the woods than be king, and his 'Sorry' emote actually sounds very earnest.

No, just. no. Have you seen his previous 'Bad Luck' emote? "Bad luck, or maybe you're just stupid." How is that a characteristic of a nice bear? He's a jerkass ursine! He probably bathes in the tears of his opponents! They have since changed his emote to something less directly insulting. Instead, he now laughs at opponents before insincerely comforting them. All the more reason to skewer the bugger with a longsword.

Fang. Yeah, see, no matter what buffs Ghor has up, Ghor is probably dead if Fang gets into a fight with him. This isn't to say that you shouldn't pick Ghor if you see Fang get picked. Far from it! Fang is a wonderful person to blow up with magic! But don't ever, ever let Fang get close to you. He'll eat you. He will eat you.

Heh. Schadenfreude on behalf of the Wolf Clan.

XD

That's the one emote that stands out. I think it's more like he starts laughing, then realizes what he's done and feels bad.

Ghor is not a smart bear.

Funnily enough, I don't see Ghor being picked all that often. I'm not sure why - perhaps he's just not very fun for other people, or maybe he's fallen out of favor. However, I can assure you that while he's not as powerful as he was when he was first introduced, he remains a force to be reckoned with.

I believe it's because how his effectiveness depends entirely on the layout of the board. Sure, on some days, you'll get that lovely expanse of forests right outside your Clan Grounds which you then use as your evil lair. On other days, that forest is on the opposite side of the map, with only 1 adjacent forest and have I mentioned how that's Zosha's side of the map? Because of how situational he is, most will just go for more practical mages like Twiss or jack-of-all-stats like River or fighters like Thane.

Yep, read it all, nice of you to have written it all ;).

About ranger's cloack (and potencially fog of war/ disguise as well ) Ghor can earn the status "stealthed" in the woods with those BUT if standing in a wood, he will always be "seen" by other players because of the fireflies lights adjacent to him in those situations; this status will however protect him against "play to creature/hero" cards. Ranger's cloack is still usefull though for the evade as well as denying your opponents burns in a fight.

I think they changed his emote not only to be less directly insulting, but also potentially because it didnt suit the rest of his persona really well, even though the "simple" bear calling you stupid was very ironical X3. though i have to admit, the current sorry emote being aplyed right after he fries you does not make him sound sorry at all anyway XD, but really, that's the only emote that as Meeky said "stands out".

Side note: my pseudo does not reffer/correlate to Ghor's title, i had it way before i knew of Ghor's (and was quite surprised by the coincidence X3)! But i have to admits, it is kinda funny when i do end up playing as him, even if it's not verry often.
(just felt like pointing it out ^^')

Maybe I've been very lucky lately, but every time I've played Ghor since coming back this last month I've seen:

1. Multiple clumps of forest on the map,
2. Of which at least 1-2 were clumps of 3 tiles,
3. And at least one clump which was within 6 AP of the home base.

I will make a note about this in the guide, and expressly ask for proof that worse situations can occur! It's entirely possible League of Geeks changed the algorithims behind the board. If someone can get a screenie from a recent game with BAD conditions for Ghor, or confirm that they've seen maps with almost no forests, I'd be very grateful.

I haven't noticed this myself, but I will do my best to confirm it. I'll mention that this might happen in the guide!

The firefly effect was supposedly patched out alongside the stealth nerf ironically
