Realism patch on Steam, anyone?

Hi! I recently returned to 688i HK after many years, only to find out the 1.07 realism patch doesn't work with Steam version. Is there a way to make it work? The error I get is that a graphic file failed to load, inseryt CD or reinstall. If i revert to the steam-provided .exe, it works. Thanks!

I checked the details on the exe file, and it already states version 1.0.8. What's the difference between patched and non-patched by the way?

The 1.07 realism patch disabled the 3D screen to minimize cheating during multiplayer games.

Back in the days, it also made reloading a torpedo much, much longer.
