I picked up the folder and drove straight to Puerto Viejo. I spoke to Cyrus and he told me that I can't be walking around with such information. My only option to reply is "oops..(enter combat) and him and tourists attack me there in the bar. I just reloaded my game and tried again from where I'm about to open the safe.
I'm not going to reload all the way before inception of that mission.
Any suggestion what I should do with the documents then?
Should I just aggro him from outside the bar and execute him and his goons as they run out the bar?
The top secret files seem to have no use in the game, the real reward for this quest is the base, radio and the weapons on the safe.
If you're having problems killing him inside the bar, you can postpone the delivery of the files as long as you want, and just come back later when you're more prepared, having more mercs and close combat weapons help a lot, you can also try to talk to him through the kitchen wall or another area where you can get to cover after combat starts.
If you hold on to them long enough, Calderon will have a use for them. He'll also pay you really well, I think $20k. This happens for sure during the Rebel campaign, I'm not sure if it also happens during the Gov't campaign.
If you finished the mission with Cyrus, and he lives, he can be found on Calderon's plantation a little later in the game.
I got the radio. I tried to use it once and it froze my game lol
I didn't like any of the weapons I found, but camo and repair tool are cool.
So far I killed Cyrus and his friends. It was pretty easy( i talked to him ducking under the bar) and my crew was waiting with guns pointing at the windows and doors. it was a massacre.
Benica even stumped some faces into the floor.
I retrieved the documents.
I drove all the way to Calderon villa and talked to him and he didn't have any dialog options to give them to him. May be later in the game?
I'm at the point where rebels and goverment asking me to kill people. I believe this is where I have to take sides. Which one is more interesting?
I like Gov more. Tanya never lets in on what is going on and if you refuse some quests she and other dudes of the camp wanna kill you, while Gov guys are much more reasonable and they aren't evil as the rebels say they are. Most people on the cities seem happy with the government also.
In terms of gameplay, the Gov guys got much better gear, especially later in the game, making them much harder to fight against. The Rebels don't have weapons as good as Govs but i tried to make them more balanced by giving them more armor in Mercapocalypse, and they also seem to have much higher camouflage skills, being annoying to spot even in daylight.
I definitely think government is more interesting than rebels; they keep you in the loop and are at least reasonably honest with you. And as Silver said, people generally like the government (with a few exceptions).
Convoy mission was ridicilous.
For any one who might get stuck:
First time I tried this mission everybody got butchered (I'm playing on hardest difficulty which is moderate). I thought this mission was impossible at first before I did some research. I turned everything on easy and tried during the night with smokes. Rebels were so dumb this time that first wave just start bum rushing me without weapons in hands lol. Don't drop smokes near government guys or they turn hostile. My tactic was to drop smoke nades and then run when it created concealment and nade the enemies. Then taking care the of wounded/shocked with few snapshots, I hope this helps to anybody who gets stock.
If you take too long, it's better to hold on to the documents.
Also, you don't have to talk to Cyrus to initiate combat. Before the BSM addition to this mission, I used to just place my mercs throughout the bar, and using aim-at-point, ambush Cyrus and his 'tourists'. That can be a fun fight. I usually bring out the pistols for that one. Be careful about civilians and the german in the corner. Don't kill the german, you will regret it later.
Drop smoke? Where? Instantly under staring position? I tried sprinting and throw smoke between govt and rebels, but they were mixed up in 2-3 seconds so govt attacked... -.-' I'm really stuck, I'm starting to hate the game for this mission.
