Hello everyone!

We’d like to answer a frequently asked question about which racing wheel models are supported in the Steam version of EXOcars.

We support around 20 of the most popular wheel and pedal models used by players. These wheels are automatically detected and configured when the game launches.

Logitech G25
Logitech G27
Logitech G29
Logitech G920
Logitech Driving Force GT
Logitech MOMO
Thrustmaster T100
Thrustmaster F430
Thrustmaster T150
Thrustmaster T300 RS
Thrustmaster T500 RS
Thrustmaster Ferrari 458
Thrustmaster T3PA Pedals
Thrustmaster T3PA Pro Pedals
Thrustmaster FreeStyler Bike
Fanatec Porsche 911 Turbo S
Fanatec Porsche 911 Carrera
Aerosoft Truck and Bus Wheel System
XInput Wheel

Other models should also connect automatically. If they don’t, players can manually configure them in-game. Here’s a general guide on how to connect your wheel:

Step 1: Go to Settings - Key Binding, and click on the button in Controller -> Horizontal.

Step 2: Center the wheel, wait for the timer to end, or press any button.

Step 3: Begin turning the wheel; this action will bind the wheel.

Step 4: Click the Calibrate button in the Key Binding window to check if the input is correct. When the wheel is centered, the white arrow in the Wheel window should be at 0. When turning the wheel left, the arrow should move left (up to -1); when turning right, the arrow should move right (up to 1).

For the Accelerator, Brake, and Clutch, the white arrow values should range from center to the far-right position (from 0 to 1).

If anything seems incorrect, click the Calibrate button in the Calibrate Controller window and perform the calibration again.

Enjoy the drive in EXOcars!

Also, answering the question about the support of force feedback (FFB).

Unfortunately, the game will ship without it on Steam. The reason being that the current solution that allows us to support all the popular steering wheel models, conflicts with FFB on some wheels, making them act weird.

The situation is complicated by the fact that FFB is different on every wheel, and XOCUS can't just buy every wheel and tune them manually. For example, Logitech have a proprietary SDK that can help with that, but you know what? It's only for Unreal Engine, while EXOcars is made on Unity.

The team is currently working on a new universal solution, but it will take some time.

Oh, that's really bad news. I played a racing game without FFB, and it was awful. The whole feeling just isn't there. You don't need to add FFB for every wheel out there, but supporting the most popular ones is an absolute must.

oh, that´s pretty sad news. Personally, I won´t buy it without FF on my fanatec wheel. I hope you can get this sorted out down the line

Thanks for the update. Hopefully it's sorted out soon. Here's an example of directinput ffb exposure for unity https://github.com/MrTimcakes/Unity-DirectInput

I just tested it with my wheel (MOZA R5) and pedals. Calibrating was ... interesting. I had to guess which thing did what, but in the end after a bit of playing around I managed to have a nice setup. (No Force Feedback yet, but you'll certainly make that work in the future)

Nice game overall. I even played in a multiplayer session with a Quest user and everything worked. I'll certainly be back!

Does the Logitech G923 steering wheel have support?

Please add FFB...thanks for work!
g923 support please

This was going to be a day 1 buy until I just read there is no FFB.

I had such a high expectation on this game, but I was not able to configure my wheel, and the lack of FFB is not acceptable.

I think launching the game at this stage was a mistake. I played with a Xbox controller but had to control the menus with a Oculus controller, this is beyond stupid, PLEASE fix this asap because the game is REALLY tedious to play while constantly changing controllers. And I can imagine it's even worse with a wheel, I didn't even dare to try with my Logitech G923 as it seems not to be supported at all. You NEED to add FFB, no excuses, there are other games made with Unity that have working FFB so it's not impossible. The physics don't seem too "advanced", the game is basically a VR version of Mario Kart and the physics are "wonky" to say the least, there's a lot to improve here. I'm not saying it's a bad game, it COULD be fun if it only worked as intended. Oh yeah and the VR controller control scheme is just useless, I gave it a go but trying to keep my hands on an imaginary wheel while trying to control the throttle, brakes and so on with my thumbs felt really un-intuitive and frustrating. It's about the same as trying to drive a real car with only your middle and index fingers around the wheel and holding your thumbs up at the same time.

Yeah, don’t get me wrong - I’m not expecting physics like in Assetto Corsa. In fact, that’s not even what I’m looking for. I just feel like playing something more arcade-style. :)
The problem is, I’ve played games with my wheel but without FFB, and it’s just awful. The whole "feeling" is completely missing. Unfortunately, I’m not considering buying the game until the wheel support is at least decent.

Could we get options to map menu up/down/left/right and confirm / back / start so that we don't have to pick up and put down the VR controller for menu navigation constantly when using a wheel?

Oh, thats a bummer.
Sounds promising though.
Wheel makers should make all this stuff much easier to implement for devs
