Is there still online multiplayer?

I found some developer references in 2017 to online multiplayer coming soon. Did that take place? (It's 2021 now.)

My friend and I can't find the option in game for the online multiplayer.

There is no integrated multiplayer.

However this game supports SteamRemotePlay. So you may play a 'local' coop match with your friend online.

There should be a hint from the Steam ovetlay during game start.

We tried it out. Since this is a very fast paced game it didn't work very well. It's been a great feature for other games though, much easier than the third party programs we used to use for that.
