Energy as primary resource bottleneck?
When I started playing 7-8 months ago, I assumed gems would be the primary resource bottleneck, both because the gain was quite low, there was a lot to spend gems on, and structurally it would make sense as the primary RMT currency in the shop.

But over time it's felt like the real bottleneck is energy. Even pre-patches it was used for heroes, spells, and its own upgrade tab. The recent expansion of spells (generally a good thing but a huge drain on energy) and automation just spread a thin resource even thinner.

To be fair, I think I'm hitting a point of diminishing returns with the game generally, but I'd say my biggest single frustration is that even if I spam Sunny Farm with a resource team, it just doesn't feel like I can make a dent, compared to say, Prestige or XP.

Even gems I can see a light at the end of the tunnel once I knock out a few last Icon purchases, but even after finally unlocking all 126 heroes Energy feels like a deep, deep, pit that seems a bit unbalanced compared to other resources. You can unlock spells or upgrades, but I'm not sure how you'd do both.

Curious if perhaps I'm missing something.

To realistically grind Rank and Energy, you are looking for multiple instances of Ultra modifiers. Such as Dicemaster + 3 Scouts + Elementalist for starter Ultra XP grind/Dummy gamble. This is similar for Energy.

Rank 300 Commander style further buffs the synergy bonus. However, Ultra is very hard to trigger without Super chance.

For Rank, it is much easier because in Rank 500, Hero can unlock Super EXP Chance global attribute. For Energy, it is on Rank 1000. So rank farming is on much higher priority than Energy.

You can spend Gems, Tournament tickets on Energy Income, but it can be wasteful and not as impactful as Ultra spam. If you are still relying on Arbalest tagging, or flat value, consider scrapping the idea and focus on Rank grinding.

The idea is similar for builing a Push team, via stacking Ultra Crit chance. Upgrading Spells beyond max level could also be helpful, such as the precious Super energy chance from Power Plant, and enemy spawn faster from game speed spell.

Played 60 days and to me turnament points and ticket seems like the bottleneck. Was fast out to improve energy income so on spells all but 2 is maxed with energy and the 2 left 1 lvl left so other rez takes over. All supreme heroes bought but ofc still in need of energy as all other rez. Think i get around 10 mill a day of energy (included battlepass etc)

@Pichu - thanks. yeah, I don't have anything to 500 yet. Dicemaster specifically is still just 261.

Was grinding xp for a month or so until the changes to battlepass and now I mostly grind battlepass xp to hit 75 every month.

@Jim - yeah, tournament tickets are a bottleneck but as you move up in level that gets better once you're getting 400-500k a week, and that one I can accept because it's clearly timegated (and also, a currency only used in one place).

I get significantly more energy than 10m/day, but there's just so much to sink it into now. Spell upgrade at rank 16 can be 1.3 Billion, and at 21 it can cost 84 Billion.

I think there were some broken energy builds in older patches that were fixed. What's the recommended energy build in the current version? Assume hero ranks of 100/250/500/1000.

As Profffile 2 says. 1 300 000 000/84 000 000 000 energy seems to me pretty broken. And on spells i have only done lvls 14. So i believe you typed wrong my friend profffile2. At 15 they change from energy to other rez, and those i use other places so far. And i am also aware with more rounds done new areas are opened with need of more rez to fill up... Can also be the earlier broken energy builds FSK talks about :AOEKnight:
Now lvl 14 on energy cost just under 10 000 000 energy so it must have become cheaper with upgrades to the game. So still a kind of expensive if you ask me

Pretty sure you are meant to use team with Rank 1000 Synergy to farm 10+ billions. I am still using R250 setup with Rank 1000 Ballista, and it's not game breaking enough. The cheap Power Plant spell is blessed, though.

Ticket is actually the primary bottleneck resources instead of Energy. Limited by 300 per week (excluding Battle Pass and 2x Ticket). If you don't spend on stat upgrades, you should be fine with Resources Spell. I spent 1000 on Kill Gold III and kind of regret it. I can't imagine spending them on Energy Income, as they are too precious.

I complained on the Discord that the game needs more energy, with all the new expensive energy purchases. The answer was "If you use the rank 1000 endgame energy build, you have enough energy." Everyone else is supposed to be stuck for energy, I guess.

it comes over time, there has just been introduced more PP sinks to improve your energy gains. Today I probably farmed more then 100T energy :shrug:

Because you are not meant to upgrade endgame levels of Spells so easily. But... unlocking Automation last 5 functions are meant to be pricy, while Researching are cheaper a lot.

The R250 3 Balllista and 3 Berserkers are giving enough Energy for the sake of staying on foot in the game. That is before the Power Plant buff. I can now farming billions of Energy easier, but not worth my time yet due to building a Rank farming team, and Auto Prestige ruins BR count.

Things have been better. After spending 200 tickets on 15, lvl 16 cost now 52,43 million energy. 16 is a rather early lvl so 1.3 billion would be close to impossible in early game. Spell upgades costs....

I guess you pointed out Trainee at 16. Price almost 944 million enegy. With a start date on 3 feb this year i'm pretty new but at lvl 15 on all spells in use. And new lvl on trainee is far away to take on. As you said plenty areas to spend on even for those new. Like to try more rounds insted. With a modest 5500 rounds there is more to take there and that pays much more back. Prob soon getting to more different areas of the game progress i guess :Dandelion: With only spend on 6x speed and unlimited offline progress will prob take long time.....anyway
