Monsterest

Demo Review
I really like the idea of this game, and have the following feedback/criticism to help you make this game a really awesome version of what it can be:

I wish there were more monsters to rent rooms to to get to know them for their stories instead of just using them to learn how to chop wood, hunt, or fish.

Fishing: This mechanic of having to move the box over the fish only by using WASD sucks. HATE the fishing mechanics. Was never able to actually catch a fish that I would get on my hook. Can there be an option to turn this mechanic/mini game off?

Crafting: why do I have to click on the craft table, click an item to make, it takes me out of the craft table menu, then I have to click on the craft table again to get the item I just crafted? Either leave me on the crafting screen or give me the ability to automatically be able to pick up the item I just crafted without having to open the menu.

Buffet Blueprint: could not unlock this one. Bug?

The sounds for overnight accomplishments and NPC voices are rather abrasive. Would like those to be much 'gentler' or nothing at all. For overnight, why not just one gentle ping and only have to click once to continue. SO much clicking to advance dialogue.

I played long enough to upgrade my pick, but when can I upgrade my axe? The amount of materials required for crafting seems high.

Personally, I want to explore a game area, meet the locals, and then be able to choose what I need to upgrade/grind for crafting materials. I don't like being blocked in from being able to explore beyond the blacksmiths shop and the Inn before having to have a furnace and craft five copper bars to get my pick upgraded....only to discover that I STILL can't explore any further.

I cleared the path to go to town, but the monster who wouldn't let me pass? How am I supposed to get past them? At this point I was frustrated with no customizations, only seeming to have the ability to collect wood/rock/ore and craft a limited amount of items without being able to explore any areas and only have the same few guests at the Inn. I lost my interest in keeping on grinding on resources to craft things in the Inn at this time and stopped playing shortly thereafter.

Can a map of explored areas be provided?

I do appreciate that I don't have limited energy...especially when I have to chop wood / mine rock/ore, and make copper/silver bars all day.

Character customization: Is this going to be available? If not, can she get shoes/socks that match?

I think this game would be REALLY good if you focus on building out the stories of the monsters and creating friendships with them. Provide more areas for exploring and being able to meet other Monsters, and make the barriers of exploring less dependent on massive amounts of resource gathering.

You're going up against Stardew Valley, and your spin on this genre is good, but you need to make me actually care about the monsters to want to run the inn.

When the initial guy says they're out and I can stay and run the inn or not, what else would I do if I don't run the Inn? Was there more to discover in Town? Can I hire another monster to help me run the Inn? Could I find a different business to take over?

I hope these comments/questions help with the continued development and direction of this game!

For the buffet blueprint- did you click on it in/press E (I can't remember which I did) your inventory? I had to interact with it in order to learn the recipe!

I also agree that creating a story around/using the monsters that come to the inn would make it a lot more interesting and keep people playing because they'd want to learn more. I'm curious, how many different monsters will be in the full game and if there will be an expanded map?

Don't like the fishing mechanic either :( Really love the game and hope that this ends up being changed.
I love the demo so far- Idk I kinda Liked the fishing mini game- different than just click when its over the right colored spot like most other fishing mini games,

I agree, I usually hate fishing mini-games! I was happy to see that they didn't go with the typical methods (click here, hit this button, etc). Just another thing that makes it unique!
