from what ive seen online its just racing no powerups or anything i will not buy its got nothing on ReVolt
I have the PC version, but... it sort of defines the "RC racing" genre for me. Maybe there's no distinct line between RC and cart racers, but at the time, I didn't know "cart racers", or actually any "subgenre". I just made a distinction between games trying to be simulators, and games that were purely for fun.
Compared to Carmageddon TDR 2000, which is another alltime favorite for me, ReVolt wasn't that much over-the-top, but presented a more realistic scenario from a different perspective. And it had races in locations that the glamour cars from Need for Speed just can't get into -- most cars will come to a quick and expensive stop when trying to race through a museum or toystore :-)
In RC Cars, you can upgrade your cars, and there's a somewhat advanced championship system, where you can earn or lose money. Bots aren't that stupid, if you find any shortcuts on the map, they will find them too. Maps are fine too, they look nice, mostly based on farms, strands or some military stuff (with soldiers shooting at you). You can also interact with maps, and they will interact with you too; civilians kicking you away, if you're not fast enough, or, if you hit them on porpuse, you get some nice bonus nitro. Things like that. For 2002, its a quite nice game.
On the other hand, there are no pickups, nor track editor like Re-Volt had, but I think they just wouldnt fit in this game.
If you ask me, even though I liked Re-Volt more, for 4€, its totally worth it.
I hope I could help.
(Also, the trailer found on the store page was made for the ingame "opening video", not for advertising the game. At least that's why I think :D)
Ah, that's sounds like an RC-theme :-)
Never used the track editor :-)
Maybe. But it's still a trailer, or it's used as one, and if a trailer doesn't show gameplay footage at all then it's really THEIR problem :-)
Especially since gameplay footage in a trailer isn't review footage: they have full control over what they show, and I don't even mind special camera angles and stuff like that. Some trailers might even have beefed up gameplay footage without me noticing that even AFTER I've played the game...
Revolt? Nice game.
