I rly like this game.

I have played a lot of Civ5, Civ6 and Endless Legend previously and that experience is what made me turn my eyes to Solium Infernum initially, me see hexes me click. This is not like them, Solium Infernum has a lot of very big twists compared to those 4X turn-based games, and to be fair, the main resemblance is a hex board, with some important hexes and the game is divided in turns, and I cant go further than that but I like it nonetheless very much and it was a good suprise to not match my initial expectations,

The experience so far is very captivating due to a lot of player interaction throughout the whole game and an action limit tied to order slots is a new "resource" to be managed each turn. The various actions are all very interesting and full of flavour although some might seem to be weaker than others in the current game state.

I very much appreciate the constant updates and new content (free and DLC) being added and consider the devs to be very engaged with the playerbase. So far, some small tweaks have already provided an improved gameplay experience and I consider that still some work is required. For the record, I agree with all changes made so far and think they are directed to the same goals as mine.

My position so far is that some QoL features, more control over game turn timers for async and for live games are crucial. I am currently playing with mostly friends on async and it would be a great to pause the game if anyone is in a busy week and wont manage to submit their turn. Furthermore, I think some gameplay balance/changes can better improve the experience. A topic that has fueled a lot of discussions is how to unlock extra order slots during a game to viabilize new strategic "paths" viable and make gameplay less streamlined.

To summarize, I recommend this game. I am really unsure what type of player would enjoy it as has a very distinct gameplay and mechanics to all that I have played before so I guess the reader could allow themselves to a good surprise. I still think it needs some work to make each new game more interesting and to allow different play paths.

It's brilliant - even more so when played with other humans (the AI is only okay, but has been improved with patches). The use of the Steam notification system for new turns works very well.
