Heroes Question

In the case of kira and helga will they level up or is it locked at the level they are?

All your "temp friends" are locked at the level you get them. Some will leave when you finish their quest, I believe that you have to take kira to her house, while helga stays with you until she dies. There is a camp with some other "heroes" in it near a bridge that you can get teleported who you can pick up when you get to high enough levels. As well as some others. You may as well use them until they no longer warrant using up an army space for or they become to weak to bother keeping alive.

That's too bad. I was hoping for Helga to have a Happier ending somewhere or to train her up.

Btw, Can I sell *Anything* in this game?

There is no option to sell any of your items except for a single suit of armour. I normally let helga die off after you get your good archers from Conrads castle (usually while fighting one of the armies around steelberg). Kira is dropped off in a house next to the river, also next to Conrads castle. But if you take a raft down the waterfall you will see a town in a bubble, if you push against the barrier, you are teleported to a camp with much stronger guys you can hire for free. In the first area it is good if you can get the ring that gives your units some armour, and the ring that gives your units some more damage. Later on you will go back and get the 25000 gold ring of speed.

The ring of Speed is 2,500 gold - At least the one in the first village. I am stilll using the ring of wrath for +5 damage and some armor/health bonuses. Not much gold...:)

Also, Thanks a lot for your help Alation13! You've really helped me enjoy this game. I thought it was unplayable when the wolves kept eating me! :)

I just got Gilbert to join my quest too and got access to Amazons. I will probably replace my Werewolves with Grizzlies once they die off.

I did my last playthrough with grizzilies until near the end, but I have to say the mid tier gladiators are probably the most cost effective unit to use.

How about the Conquerors? Those looked interesting.

I think I prefer the higher level units that don't die so much usually. All my peasants died, conveniently, so I didn't have to dismiss them. :) Most of the Freebie units died too, unfortunately. Looking for more mages...

The conquerors of course are better, but when you are struggling with a lower authority it is better to have 3 middle level gladiators than 2 top level ones. I am pretty sure that is the authority ratio between the two. It is the same reason I am not really bothered about cave bears. The increase in authority is too high for the benefit. Some people swear blind that the dragonslayers are the best melee unit in the game but I will go for the top tier gladiators, giants/jotun or the knights of the sun over the dragon slayers any day.

I made a mistake. The speed ring is indeed 25,000 gold. It wasn't so important in the beginning, but seems more important later.

I'm mopping up Tokugawa now, though I went to Artuthur's castle fist. Waiting until Midnight was a pain...they should have a sleep button or something other than drinking in the inn. :)

The pyramid is worse for waiting, but yeah, speed is crucial later in the game. You want ALL your army to be "very fast". Hitting first and taking out their ability to hit you is pretty much how you do the last three quarters of the game with minimum losses.

Does waiting by the pyramid work? I've been waiting now and it's dark, but I don't know the time...How high is the Moon at midnight? it's the only clue. 12 o'clock? :)

You go there just before dark and just walk around in circles at the side of the pyramid, a few seconds after it gets dark, the quest should update. There should be some hints on the internet about it because so many people have had that issue. BTW I think that is the last time you have to actually be at a certain place at a certain time.
