Problems in Chapter 3

I am stuck in Chapter 3 so I looked at a few walkthroughs online and it seems that what they were able to do in the game is not a possibility for me (e.g., get a sleepy prompt so one can make medicine)

I also have solved the bug race puzzle many times without being able to get the key.

From what I saw online the only thing I didn't do was put the book on the stand and had only opened it up within my inventory. I placed the book on the stand after watching a walkthrough but it still did not progress.

You are required to both put the book on the bookstand and make the chalk puzzle to be able to go to sleep.
Also, you are not ready to complete the bug race puzzle on Monday, you will be given an appropriate clue later on.

I was able to read the book just fine and solved the chalk puzzle without the stand. But now that I subsequently put the book in the stand I do not progress. Isn't this a logic flaw of some sort that should be reprogrammed? Thank you.

It shouldn't make any difference whether you put the book on the stand before or after having completed the chalk puzzle. We will check the code to see if there's any glitch somewhere but I'm afraid you will need to reset the chapter if having done both doesn't trigger the "go to sleep" dialogue.

I reset the chapter and was able to get past this point now, thank you
