There is a virality and self-sufficient mod which lets you host your own server I think in a roundabout way, to not need to use their public server bandwidth I think.
If the game engine and games has this feature called 'texture streaming' it actually enables you to download textures in real time as you play.
So it depends on what features the game has that's bandwidth intensive, but I know that up to 4 people on voice chat (sending and receiving voice at once) is a bit chunky, then the same with syncing everyone's game, and then recording the video to share.
And if you have discord or other programs that eats bandwidth in the background (even Windows OS eats a little bit) it adds up.
Minimum internet speeds these days is at least 25Mbps download, and at least 10Mbps upload now. This is because if you have other programs running you are often downloading more so than uploading.
