Can't Move

My friend and I got this game and were going to play, but when he loads into a lobby (any lobby, not just the one I invite him to) his character starts slowly running and he can't move his mouse. In some instances it's flipped and he can move his mouse, but can't walk. I've seen a problem with the mouse sensitivity setting, but his sensitivity is not zero. Even when he tries to go to his settings it is very difficult to get there. Even if he navigates to the "Settings" button, his mouse stays stuck at "Resume." We've tried almost everything we can think of and can't find any solution. Any recommendations?
