Recordings fail to extract or get stuck on extracting

There are sadly a million things that can lead to extraction issues for the videos, some of which we have no control over on our end (like one team-mate having a weird file structure on their computer) but we have done our best to fix the most common ones.

Troubleshooting that may help:

• Avoid several short cuts in succession
  
• Don't stand on the extraction machine or jump into the bin
  
• Make sure you have enough space on the C: drive (everyone in the lobby needs to have enough space on their C: drives) where the recordings are saved
  
• Try not to pass the camera around too much. If you have many extraction failures, it can help if only the host uses the camera.
  
• Whoever did most of the filming can try to be the one to leave the camera in the extraction machine, even if they died
  
• Make sure all players have the same mods. All players can also try to fully remove all mods to make sure a mod isn't causing the issue (especially camera mods seem to cause more extraction failures).
  
• Some players have reported that Voicemod can cause extractions to fail
  
• Make sure you have a stable internet connection
  
• Playing on a public network (for example in a school or a café) might cause issues since there are more restrictions

My game crashes on startup or during gameplay

For crashes on startup, it often helps to remove save files and game recordings, and then running the game as an administrator.

Save files and game recordings can be found here:

• C:\Users\(your username)\AppData\LocalLow\Landfall Games\Content Warning\Saves
  
• C:\Users\(your username)\AppData\Local\Temp\rec

Stuck on hosting, unable to join/host games, disconnection issues

Here are some steps you can try that have helped fix the issue for other players:

• Make sure you're launching the game directly from your Steam Library
  
• Restarting the game will sometimes help
  
• Start the game, then wait in the menus for a minute or two before clicking to join/host a game
  
• Run the game as administrator, you can find steps on how to do so in our troubleshooting guide here https://landfall.se/content-warning-faq
  
• Exclude the game in your antivirus
  
• Verify your game files in Steam: Right-click on Content Warning in your Steam Library > Properties > Installed files > Verify integrity of game files
  
• Restart your router
  
• Make sure you have a stable internet connection
  
• Some players have been able to solve issues by playing with a VPN

Removing save files and game recordings can help, they are located here:

• Press the Windows key + R and type appdata into the prompt that appears
  
• Then navigate to LocalLow\Landfall Games\Content Warning\Saves for the save files (check the Saves folder even if no saves are visible in-game)
  
• Or to Local\Temp\rec for the game recordings

If you have installed mods:

• Modded matchmaking: If you have installed mods that are not vanilla compatible, you will only be matched with other players that have the same mods as you. If you get stuck searching for a random game, it’s possible no other players with the same mods were found
  
• Certain mods require all players in the lobby to have the mod installed for it to work
  
• Also keep in mind that if you have downloaded mods from the Steam workshop, that sometimes mods need to be loaded in a certain order. If you have InputAPI, it typically needs to be loaded first (Right-click on Content Warning in your Steam Library > Properties > Workshop > Put InputAPI at the top). Check the description for each mod for more info.

If the issues persist, try to remove all mods and reinstall the game:

For Steam workshop: Right click on Content Warning in your Steam Library > Properties > Workshop > Delete all mods.

For Thunderstore mods, sometimes mod files remain even after the mod has been uninstalled through a mod manager. Go to the game installation folder and make sure all mod files are gone (in our FAQ here[landfall.se], you can see a picture of which files a clean copy of CW should have).

My game is pink!

This seems to happen mainly on computers that don't meet the minimum system requirements for the game. You can try updating your graphics drivers and verify your game files in Steam (Right-click on Content Warning in your Steam Library > Properties > Installed files > Verify integrity of game files).

You can also check if your computer has more than one GPU and if so, make sure it's using the dedicated GPU for the game (detailed steps in our troubleshooting guide[landfall.se]).

The game freezes for a few seconds when I stop a recording

For this issue it usually helps to add exclusions in your antivirus for the game installation folder (the entire folder, not just the game itself) and the folder where the game recordings are saved.

The default antivirus in Windows is Windows Security, you can follow these steps to add an exclusion.[support.microsoft.com]

The default locations for the game installation folder and game recordings folder are:

• C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Content Warning
  
• C:\Users\(your username)\AppData\Local\Temp\rec

Some players have also mentioned that FACEIT Anti-Cheat can cause this issue in the game, if you have it installed you can check to see if can be disabled while playing Content Warning.

My game is stuck in a minimized window

Resetting the resolution in the Registry usually helps with this:

1. Press and hold the Windows key and the letter R on your keyboard
   
2. Type regedit into the prompt that appears and click OK
   
3. In the panel to the left, navigate to this folder: Computer\HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Landfall Games\Content Warning
   
4. Delete all settings starting with “Screenmanager”

I can't move the camera while in-game / There is no sound

There is a bug where some settings get set to 0 sometimes, check the in-game settings and make sure the mouse sensitivity and volume sliders are not set to 0!
