The "have fun with friends" aspect suggests "if you don't have friends don't bother", and if you don't also have a microphone or don't want to use it, the game is just not playable.
This seems to lock out a large portion of buyers while frustrating both new players/people who value privacy, and people who get silent people in their lobby. Yes, one could argue they should have known better, but it is what it is.
Until they implement TTS/STT this will be so for the genre, and the "immersive" way these games have no text chat puts pressure on people, and contributes to making them niche.
Audio bugs make it so that people may be better off using a dedicated voice-client and then the game's vicinity-chat is out the window.
Maybe there's a text-to-speech/speech-to-text app to couple with the game somewhere, could also solve issues with different languages by way of translation.
While the tech-race for best accessibility could marginalize unique game-features, it's also a milestone for human evolution: Global in-line translation, STT/TTS, and voice-clarity amplification could have been invented long ago with a more user-centered industry.
The notable thing with Content Warning is that it allows you to purchase agency with your imaginary donation or ad-coupon money from streaming media. Personally I prefer roguelike unlocks and NewGame+ progression over one-off shops that give a leg-up for one run.
Much better references and words than I used, thank you. I don't want to argue here forever, I wasn't trying to argue, just, state that I felt OP's view of the game was a little flawed, at least to an objective view of mine. But going back to LC, that game, basically requires mods. It's not necessary, but UI issues, bugs and stuff are things I got mods for when I played it. I also got the mods to see my legs because I really don't like having no legs in games. But anyways, this might be my final message in this thread because it's just going to escalate more and more. CW could use some updates definitely, LC is being worked on solo by a student (I believe) and they are different games with a similar premises. It happens a lot, look at Phas clones, some of those are really good actually. Alternatively, look at Battle Royales, I'll stop there lol. Have a good day or night everyone ^^
Look at Landfall's prior games: Clustertruck, TABS, etc. These aren't deep games to immerse yourself in; they're fun time-wasters to play when you could use a good laugh; or rage, in Cluster's case.
Stop being a pessimistic soul-sucker and let people enjoy the game for what it is; not a lore-driven videogame, but essentially a kids' version of LC.
So what if it came out a day or two ago? Doesn't make it immune to criticism or suggestions on what to add.
If you are that type of person who likes to pay for what is essentially the same game, you should try FIFA games or any sports games by EA. I think you'd enjoy those too.
If you look at this game and think "yep this sure looks soulless" then I don't know what to tell you.
Even your main point at the top of this thread was "yeah this game is fun with friends but so is Lethal Company". Like huh?? What are you even saying.
I beg you to do this:
1) Go play a game of Lethal Company.
2) Immediately afterwards, play a game of Content Warning.
They play entirely differently, and you are only comparing them based on a few similarities rather than the game as a whole.
