Different objectives don't make the game any better or any different from the other, in both games you will encounter monsters and maybe get a good laugh out of it if you are playing with friends. Seeking and avoiding monsters might be different, but it isn't really since you will encounter them no matter what, so it kinda blends into the same thing.
I still enjoyed it with my friends, but still, I just felt like I was playing whackier version of Lethal Company.
You will "still encounter monsters no matter what" in any and every horror game, otherwise it would be empty. Having different objectives literally makes games different, better is subjective and your own opinion. It seems you just want more Lethal Company, where-as I got bored of the Lethal Company formula and enjoy this more whacky fun with friends. Instead of the iffy nature of Lethal Company and lack of replayability. I also agree heavily with what Valinov said.
Does this game have a greater goal? Phasmophobia and LC are fun with friends, but both games lack a greater goal, and I hope this game won't suffer from that. Few laughs with friends isn't really something that is gonna keep people around much.
For games like this, which by the way just came out so maybe give it a small break; Lethal Company, Phasmophobia and other marketed co-op games. You make the fun, in a game of small objectives. In Lethal Company and this it's "How long can we go in 1 session before we don't meet quota" while also being stupid, sacrificing friends etc etc and yes that is very similar to this game, but you aren't trying to evade the danger, your counting on it. Phasmophobia is identifying the ghost/spirit, surviving, side objectives and still sacrificing your friends. The greater goal is having fun with friends, something that tends to lack in this day and age. I'm not trying to attack you for clarification, I understand your argument. I just think you're making a bit of an unfair comparison and you don't realise that 70% of games are the same, but it's the formula, art and general gameplay that changes. You said you enjoyed your limited time with this game, fantastic. But if you prefer LC, maybe go back to it? Download 100 mods and have fun with friends. I'll stay here and record my friends wailing in pain and begging for me to help them.
Fun or not, it's all just the same but repackaged.
I do enjoy this game with friends, right now none of us know what awaits us, but that will wear off soon enough. Sure mods will help eventually, but still. Not sure how it's fun experiencing the same thing we already did over and over again. LC, like I've said, also got boring. The new beta for v50 looks fun though, but even that will get stale real quick. This game already is showing same issues that LC had...same environment, no bigger goal other than "fun with friends", lack of upgrades, one objective etc.
I am not here to trash the game, however, if people are gonna pay for it, there needs to be more to it than just having you seek danger and messing with your friends. I know this game is still brand new and I hope somewhere down the line they add more stuff to it. More objectives or "side quests" for example, wouldn't really hurt.
Like find a long lost diary of a previous explorer, or explore this rumor or this urban legend etc. Do these for a chance for extra views and maybe some extra cash. These could be little side quests or something.
Again, I understand your argument and I'm not here to say anyones opinions are wrong or say what you like or dislike is wrong. But your claim on how the game is taking the same steps as LC by having a lack of content and stuff. The game JUST CAME OUT, it hasn't even had it's first patch yet, and the devs are in the Discussions taking in criticism and saying that they are working on bugs, then content will be coming. So my argument here is, I get what you are saying, you are valid, in some of it. But give it some time, this game has a team and a company behind it, LC has a single person who I believe is still in schooling. I know I word things harsh at times, but I'm just trying to let you see what I am saying while trying to also see your view :>
The funny things is five developers are far behind compared to a solo developer. LC has few bugs and more interest contents even have a lore on the first day while CW has many frustating bugs (like lobby stuck, lost voice etc.) and no content, no lore on first day 😂
You know what, I will make this simple.
Add more stuff " Like find a long lost diary of a previous explorer, or explore this rumor or this urban legend etc. Do these for a chance for extra views and maybe some extra cash. These could be little side quests or something." - this, just add something like this down the line so it won't get stale like LC did for a while.
