Actually saves in 2 locations. %appdata%/Local/Temp/rec and then each sub folder is a different series of clips that get turned into a recording that is saved there.... And then if you click the save button, you get that desktop one as well.

I found the videos by going to "~/.steam/steam/steamapps/compatdata/2881650/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuser/Desktop"
