Chapter 3 bug

I just got the square peg from the projector puzzle, but now I am stuck. At first the peg just didn't go anywhere, and I tried to restart the chapter. The same thing happened, but after I tried to exit and re-enter the game, I couldn't even take the peg out of my inventory anymore, and the light above the "irregular shaped hole" has started shining, even though I did nothing after taking the peg out of it's hiding space. The same problem persisted even after a second time restarting the chapter. Is there anything else I can try?

Edit: Nevermind. I looked up the walkthrough. Zoomed in the peg did come out of my inventory.
I could have sworn I checked everything with the lens.
