Save game and PDF manual?
Howdy, Was a HUGE fan of Jack's Golf way back when escpecially the course designer. I still have CD's of games I designed and played. So when I discovered this new game with course designer I bought it right away.
Two questions...is there a way to Save a game? Say a solo Game? I see some posts from 2015 that say "not yet" but hope to heck there is a way to save and not have to just leave the game running in the background...
Second is a REAL manual? I've seen some of the "tutorials" that are basically a long forum post and some videos but I'd really like a pdf that I can print out. Is that considered "old fashioned now"? Hope not.
And as my wife used to play this with me and wanted to again what's up with no female avatars? Again I see stuff from 2015 saying "not yet" but nothing recently. Makes me wonder if development of this game went poof? As in not much seems to be going on with stuff like this.
Thanks in advance
John

You can resume a round as long as you select 'EXIT GAME' and not 'END ROUND'. When you start the game again, you will have the option to 'RESUME' or 'END' your last solo game.

As far as a real manual, not really. Any questions, tips or coaching will be far more beneficial to you via the official forum: http://www.perfectparallel.com/index

If by save a game you mean a round in progress, Grenth described it. If you mean an entire round so you could play it again, including the choice of playing against it, if you check the box "Record round" before you begin the round, then it will save it after you finish. Once in a while it neglects to save it though; that just happened to me with a par round at Amana Colonies, which is quite a fun course.

OK cool thanks on that Grenth and Bhakti regarding the save options. Not great but an option. Would prefer to have a Save button like pretty much any other game ever made. I'd like to perhaps get to hole 9 at Bing bang course and save it for later and start a different course.
Anyone have a word on an actual manual to download and print? Guess I'm maybe old fashioned with that but I like to print out the manual for any game I play and read it while in bed to figure out the nuances of a game that I may not find on my own.
Is this game still considered "In development"? Again dating myself but I've made the decision not to get involved with games like that. I don't mind spending the money on a finished product (and have spent plenty over my life) but for me there are just too many games to play to become a alpha tester for companies who may never finish the game.
Ok thanks again but I think if its no manual I may have to try to take Steam up on their no nonsense refund policy and move on to another game. Civ 6 is next on the list!
Best regards John

There is no manual like the type you are hoping for. I created some videos a while ago to help my nephew learn the interface and gameplay - maybe they could be of assistance to you as well (although no way to print them out!):

Thank you much for taking the time to help both with this message and your videos. I did find them also. Just rather "miffed" that this was one of those "early access- pay as THEY go" type games with this version no longer being developed by the developer but Steam made no mention of this (maybe they did not know). Too bad as the dev (guessing its a one man show as when I sent him an email I got an almost instance response from his Iphone) seems like a nice enough guy who provides near instant support to emails and the game looks well beyond promising.
He did not respond to my further inquiries (and I guess after my review I get it) nor has Steam about whether those of us that spent the money on this get a free or discounted upgrade to PG2 or not. If we do my feathers will be unruffled:)
Steam turned down my refund request because I had too many hours on the game (I left it running in the background for days afraid I would loose it and actually played 1.5 rounds but steam either doesn't read or they have people that grew up only reading texts and paragraphs are like another language to them:) I digress.
Seems like a nice game and I hope the Dev gets Pg2 up and going soon. Again looks like a great product. My fear is they are using PG1 marketted disingenuously (sp?) to raise money to keep going.
Anyway have you done any work with the course designer? That was my primary attraction to the game as I had much fun with the original Jack Nicklaus designer (late 90's??) which is free on some web sites now) and enjoyed sharing designs with other folks. I seem to remember some BBS's (I'm old!) where we could share them and I still have some saved on a CD- so again thinking early 90's??? Oh and the one I found recently works with DOSBox. My original Jack N CD's would not play with Dosbox.
Thanks for the help
Best regards
John

I have not done too much with the designer, but it's quite functional and there are many courses available for free download and play. See the links below for additional information. (Note that there is no affiliation whatsoever between JNPG and GBC.)
