Am I doing the Traplord wrong?

Just got the the traplord for the first time. Destroyed all 4 of his statues. He got renamed to "Temple Craplord". However, he still has a glowing shield thing floating around him and I can't seem to do any damage.

Am I missing something here, or am I bugged?

Even after the statues are destroyed, he can still create a white shield bubble that absorbs a significant amount of damage. He refreshes this shield quite often, so you need to do quite a bit of damage in a short amount of time to destroy it and damage the Craplord.
