Need help please - 1) "BAD monster" / 2) Weapon/armour indices
1) "BAD" monster: In a dungeon I had a first shot (arrow) at a "Brute Ogre". Fantasy icon changed to square tile labelled 'BAD". Noticed after my attack his health was still maxed. In combat log got a message that this guy is bad; drop everything and get out as A.S.A.P; which I did. (No, I didn't drop everything!).

This was where my last character, level 9, met his end. At the time I was surprised how many times I hit him in melee and he was still standing. Then, I didn't notice anything indicating that he was "BAD".

How do I handle this guy? If not now, later? I'm currently level 8; the dungeon is 'adventurous".

2) Weapon/armour indices: Assuming blue is good and red is bad. I don't know what effect they have - probably on hit (damage), dodge, and parry?

Thank you in advance; couldn't find answers in the discussion forum.

I believe that was a fake monster, which is actually a wooden sign type replacement summoned by one of the other magician mobs. I believe they're called tricksters or something. You have to hit the sign a couple of times for it to disappear, and if you have a battle poultry they're automatically target them.

Easy way to tell if a monster is fake like that is they don't move, so if you have a random mob standing while you walk around it's a summoned fake.

Thank you Mr. Payne. I'm feeling a little sheepish but I had never encountered this situation previously. This will be the first dungeon I hit next session.

Happy gaming!
When it comes to the decoy monsters, one way is to look at the text box when hovering over them. Beneath the stats is something like "An extremely powerful foe. Use all your consumables! Run away!".

As for color indicators on weapons/armors, blue means the item has been enhanced in a positive way often indicated with a prefix or suffix. On the item's card, the colored text is the stat that is being affected.

Red, on the other hand, means the item is cursed meaning it has negative modifiers to the stats. In addition to the red name, it usually has a "weak" sounding prefix. Clumsy, Wimpy that sorta thing.
To neutralize or reset the item, use a scroll of Consume Curse.

If you need any additional help, I'll do my best to assist. Also, there are quite a few absolutely fantastic guides in the Guides section.
Thank you as well thegreatvarholy. I had guessed the gist of the indices but you have dotted the i's and crossed the t's for me.
