I know ZAngband quite well, I've played a lot of it. It's flattering that you feel that Dungeonmans compares to one of the greats.
There are plans for end-game content, something like an Infinite Dungeon.
There are a few more powers in the works but they are high-level powers, and won't be available at character creation. But yes, more stuff to do for sure.
The game doesn't have races, however I will be adding more character creation perks which simulate the way races work in most games.
Have you played Sil? It's a very different *band type game, you might like it!
Didn't think that might happen !
Yes, Dungeonmans is definitely as great as Zangband! I really like the tactical combats (gotta hate those rushing enemies when you're getting away).
the floors of dungeons are a bit small and sometimes a bit empty (lack of traps or treasure that makes you want to explore more, also need more larger rooms, I get a lot of corridors leading on corridors. I know there are the secret walls which disapear quickly once spotted so it's hard to get them.
There is a scroll that teleports you back to the overland but in an infinite dungeon a town portal spell would be nice that goes back and forth to the academy.
I really like the academy and how you can evolve it, there's only merchants missing so you can sell potions and scrolls you don't need directly without going back to a town but I guess there are many towns for that. But the system is quite deep and that's what it needs.
I'm glad to hear lots of stuff will come :)
I met my first 2 purpulonians with a level 10 character and they owned me big time ! :(
I don't know what you need to kill them yet! I'm a bit disgusted right now to start a new character :( in a day or two probably ! lol
With more endgame stuff, the game will really be amazing !
I have to say, I'm quite glad we don't have to think about eating/drinking as it's quite annoying in Zangband, I prefer to die from a strong monster than from starvation which is really frustrating.
My only big complains right now are really little actually, the icons for the necromancer not showing correctly, the color of the icons for the wizard (all blue is a bit confusing)
And the fact that mountains are so closed so there are tid bit of fog of war you can't remove on the overworld, I like clean explored map ! LOL
Or maybe there is a way to go in the mountains but I didn't find it yet!
Also I don't understand how to use the skill to return to the academy from anywhere on the overland map?
I really like how you can manage classes and mix them how you like, I had an assassin/necromancer I really liked ! lol sadly, I lost him to an incredibly strong monster hidden in a weak dungeon behind a secret wall, I wasn't expecting that to happen, he got OS :(
Zangband is really all about the character creation development lost of classes, even more races, lots of different magic (the chaos one was quite fun) and equaling or trying to compete with it, is close to impossible IMHO as there are too many (praise to you if you try, lol) but the dungeoning is well made and quite interesting, that's what Dungeonmans need the most.
Anyway, thanks a lot for your answer ! I wasn't expecting it! I'm definitely going to explore Sil as I never heard of it, angband being the one I stopped on.
