Community Crunch 522: The Good, the Bad and the Ugly

This week, we're taking a closer look at the Cerberax, and its dossier reveals there's considerably more to taming this mythological monster than simply surviving the encounter. Each head will need to be dealt with on its own terms, and convincing all three that you're worth following might prove just as dangerous as fighting the beast itself.

Pull it off, though, and Cerberax becomes one hell of an ally, bringing fire, venom, and three heads that are dangerous alone and downright vicious in sync.

And [color=#3498db]Cerberax[/color] won't be arriving alone. September 30 is shaping up to be a packed day on the ARKs, bringing the [color=#3498db]Unreal Engine 5.8 upgrade[/color], the [color=#3498db]Therizinosaurus TLC[/color], and ARK: Dragontopia’s [color=#3498db]Gargantar[/color] alongside it.

So while you start deciding which two tribemates you trust with the other heads, keep an eye on the calendar. There's plenty more headed your way on [color=#3498db]September 30[/color]!

Something affecting evolution on the ARKs seems to have a knack for mythology! Cerberax tricipitis is a huge three-headed canid, capable of taking on even a Rex or Ossidon in a fair fight. Anything short of a Giga or Carcha is going to have a tough time fighting Cerberax. Its sheer size allows it to take a beating, so be sure to make it bleed if you plan to fight one.

The three heads of Cerberax all use separate tactics, but their real strength is working together. The right head applies fire to subdue its prey, while consuming venom to cripple it. The left head applies venom to weaken its prey, while consuming fire to heal its body. The central head coordinates the other two, resulting in more damage from the side heads, and causing their venom and their flames to spread to nearby targets.

Taming Cerberax involves winning over not one, but three animals. When subdued by narcotics, all its adrenaline surges to a single head. By quickly mounting that head and placating its anger, you can wear down its reserves of energy. Another head will wake, so repeat until all three collapse and you can feed it into submission.

Once finally tamed, Cerberax is best ridden by a team of three Survivors. One Survivor controls the body and main head, while the other Survivors control the left and right heads to maximize combat efficiency. Working as a team, the three heads bolster each other's abilities to their maximum potential!

Expire servers are temporary servers across the network that will eventually be removed, and you can find them by searching for "[color=#3498db]Expire[/color]" in the session filter.

These servers will be online until 10 am PST / 1 pm EST on September 18th. We're preemptively using our allocation for future maps to host some additional sessions that players can travel onto to farm, tame, and experience the newest content Gameplay. The same transfer restrictions apply in that you are only able to download your character, but you can freely take anything off. This is to help reduce load off some of the other servers, or provide players an option for those who just want to jump onto a new map temporarily.

Please note that these servers will no longer exist [color=#3498db]after 10 am PST / 1 pm EST on September 18th[/color], so if you intend to use them, remember to transfer your items/creatures/characters off before that date, as nothing will be saved beyond that time period.

Conquest, introduced to ARK: Survival Ascended by Snail Games, focuses on large-scale PvP, with increased rates, and other changes listed below. The increased rates will allow tribes to set up and establish themselves quickly and enable them to rebuild after potential losses instead of being wiped completely.

Wildcard, youve clearly bitten off more than you can chew, this game runs like absolute ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥, why are you adding DLC after DLC, you cant even play the BASE GAME properly, roll it back to an older engine, all of this bloom and particles ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ is a joke, i just want to play the game not become a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ game developer every time i want to play. I pray the Unreal engine 5.7-8 update works, otherwise i think the genre of dino games should go to another studio who actually know how to develop a game....

Structure decay is temporarily disabled while we finish resolving a small number of lingering tribe issues related to last week’s OC server outage. We plan to re-enable it next Friday, September 4, alongside the opening of transfers on Genesis Part 1.

Transfers on Genesis Ascended Part 1 Official servers will open on September 4th, allowing players to move items, creatures, and characters onto the map without restriction! We've also aligned the timing with the Genesis Part 1 Expires servers, giving players a couple of weeks to move everything over before those servers close on September 18th.

Early Access Review

ARK: Survival Ascended – Update & Crash Simulator

Great game. Amazing dinosaurs. Beautiful graphics.

Unfortunately, I wanted to play ARK, not beta test Unreal Engine.

Updates: 15 GB
What they fixed: Nobody knows
What they broke: Everything
FPS: Depends on the phase of the moon
Lag: Always online
Crashes: Free fast travel back to the desktop

You spend 6 hours taming a dinosaur, building your base, and gathering resources.

Then the game crashes.

You load back in.

Your dinosaur is dead.
Your base is gone.
Your will to live is questionable.

Then Steam says:

"ARK has an update."

Of course it does.

At this point, I'm not surviving on the ARK.
I'm surviving Wildcard's development cycle.

Still playing though.
Because apparently I have Stockholm syndrome.

10/10 update experience. Would download another 30 GB just to lose everything again :)

Update function is the worst in the world

Tis game's update function is the worstr in the world... 2-3 hours updating and if you pausse it playing any other game it starts over.. I have been trying to iunstall the lastest patch for a week and it starts over and ovcer and over any time I do anything else. I want my money back!!!!!!!! I cant play trhis game!!!!!!!!...

Why do I have a 206.1GB update? I'm not doing it...

I started Steam this morning just to find I now have a 206.1GB update to Ark. I'm not downloading this because its absurd. A couple days ago I noticed there was a 66GB update to Ark (another absurd update size) and I didn't have the time to download all of it. After about 10GB in I had to pause it and now I have an update that is larger than most of my Steam library combined. I would have to go buy an SSD dedicated specifically for this game alone to download this update. Why is this update this large?...

Early Access Review

When I first started playing ASA, things were fine. Played for hours on the Official ARK servers with little to no issues. But now, every day or so, the server crashes for hours at a time, and is generally unstable to the point of being unplayable. After losing my character to the void, I can safely give this game a negative review. With consistent crashes, and bugs that delete your character and all your progress, I wouldn't recommend playing this at all, unless you're playing single player.

It's not worth the headache, and it's not worth your time. I HIGHLY recommend to Wildcard, stop adding new content, and FIX what you already have. The more you add, the more unstable the game becomes. No amount of cool dino additions, or paid DLC is going to fix this mess.
