Joking but not joking T_T
Anyway, what the game needs is to trim down and streamline the whole crafting schtick. focus on the roleplaying/customization aspect to differentiate from Terraria and its clones.. we dont need another terraria with two decade old assets.
I disagree, dins legacy was amazing but im tired of diablo likes... terraria + dins legacy is what this game will always be. Dins legacy 2 should be on a much better engine which would require income. This game could get that income but it for sure needs less jank.
I for one like the crafting and building an actual defensive castle. I think it really needs balance/class overhaul with better skill anims sfx, world gen overhaul size increase.
Dins legacy will be hard to beat but this game can do it and hopefully set up dins legacy 2 to be one of the better diablo like games ive played.
Even if i really like most of the other games, Drox is by far my favorite, because visuals were less atrocious. I find Champion much more ugly than the previous games. It's not about technical level, but art direction, color, pattern...
It's also more messy, chaotic, unclear. World design is off, there are levers in the middle of nowhere, doing random "things" without any logical structure. Mobs, traps, effects, are all over the place, "randomly" there, in the bad way of random.
I want to like it, but everytime i try to play, i feel the ingredients may be great, but the soup is wrong.
Kind of funny you say this, but like, that's how I genuinely feel about the game too. I even made a video about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=No4XlQXxuHE
Which honestly makes me kind of sad because I was genuinely so hyped by the game idea when it was initially announced. The potential for this game is so insane to me.
I personally made a comment way back on the art direction too (in response to Tchey's comment) and feel that, while not atrocious, there are a lot of areas that could be improved (post: https://www.soldak.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38914)
I've been following Soldak for *checks notes* at least 12 years now (according to my forum account) and this is probably the title that I've played the least, which is also very surprising to me, because typically it's the non-rpg Drox lineup that I tend to like less than the more magic/medieval oriented titles. Even today, I'd probably still play Din's Legacy over Din's Champion...
But anyway, I'll end my mini-rant there. I know Shadow has the ability to produce greatness, so I'm eagerly awaiting whatever he cooks up next to make Din's Champion hit 'just right'. I think we all know it's possible. I just don't think it is doing that right now.
