Game needs
I feel like the game could make good use with like a world wrap around feature. Currently to survive i on hardcore i just restart until my crystal is near the walls above ground and place blocks so nothing can spawn except me, and npcs. removing all walls and making it so if you walk to the edge of a world you go around to the other side would make me focus on actually trying to make a true base. I would recommend removing the top barriers and adding sky stuff also, maybe it can various tests related to random gods that can be bad or good.

a bigger world size and increased radius of the life crystal would be cool also as it would make a giant base fit for a endgame character look more grandiose and blessed by the gods and not a clump of efficiency , I loved playing solo Dins Legacy on massive map sizes hardcore and going crazy for hrs upon hrs.

basically use Terraria as influence slightly more, it seems shameless but they simply have good ideas and i doubt they care so long as you add your own spin

overall even in alpha this game feels really good to me and ive played Terraria Calamity + Thorium convergence for hundreds of hours. This made me forget about Terraria for a long time and i probs wont play until i unlock all the classes

6/10 even in alpha to me, Classes should be based on fun so dont shake the meta too crazy but just make other classes more viable. I play on hardcore and dont have all the classes rn but so far Healer into weap master into warden seems good enough so you dont die with both spawn increasing modifiers on a very intense huge world. Let us modify and mutate our companions Rimworld style to make us more attached so they arent just meat.

for a class example something like Demon Possession being a cool transformation but having a long cd and not the best benefits at all really. Atleast let the Phys transformations uses Phys skills and the Mage transformations use magic skills but lock all else.

some classes just need real work and buffs. you could put more work into taunts and make it function like shadow of mordor where some have a giant ego and let you live sending you back to base and trashtalking you kidnapping your companion ect.

This game has such insane potential, just use qol inspired from terraria (the block place swap thingy) add workshop or other forms of mod support

This game has great potential and has a good base at alpha i could easily see it being 9/10 when its finished

by taunts i meant from npcs and whatnot
I'd love to finally see some more ranged options aside from bows.

Game needs? Needs to be canned and replaced by a Dins Legacy expansion..
Joking but not joking T_T

Anyway, what the game needs is to trim down and streamline the whole crafting schtick. focus on the roleplaying/customization aspect to differentiate from Terraria and its clones.. we dont need another terraria with two decade old assets.

I disagree, dins legacy was amazing but im tired of diablo likes... terraria + dins legacy is what this game will always be. Dins legacy 2 should be on a much better engine which would require income. This game could get that income but it for sure needs less jank.

I for one like the crafting and building an actual defensive castle. I think it really needs balance/class overhaul with better skill anims sfx, world gen overhaul size increase.

Dins legacy will be hard to beat but this game can do it and hopefully set up dins legacy 2 to be one of the better diablo like games ive played.

Sadly this game is the least appealing of all Soldak's, for me.

Even if i really like most of the other games, Drox is by far my favorite, because visuals were less atrocious. I find Champion much more ugly than the previous games. It's not about technical level, but art direction, color, pattern...

It's also more messy, chaotic, unclear. World design is off, there are levers in the middle of nowhere, doing random "things" without any logical structure. Mobs, traps, effects, are all over the place, "randomly" there, in the bad way of random.

I want to like it, but everytime i try to play, i feel the ingredients may be great, but the soup is wrong.

Kind of funny you say this, but like, that's how I genuinely feel about the game too. I even made a video about it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=No4XlQXxuHE

Which honestly makes me kind of sad because I was genuinely so hyped by the game idea when it was initially announced. The potential for this game is so insane to me.

I personally made a comment way back on the art direction too (in response to Tchey's comment) and feel that, while not atrocious, there are a lot of areas that could be improved (post: https://www.soldak.com/forums/showthread.php?t=38914)

I've been following Soldak for *checks notes* at least 12 years now (according to my forum account) and this is probably the title that I've played the least, which is also very surprising to me, because typically it's the non-rpg Drox lineup that I tend to like less than the more magic/medieval oriented titles. Even today, I'd probably still play Din's Legacy over Din's Champion...

But anyway, I'll end my mini-rant there. I know Shadow has the ability to produce greatness, so I'm eagerly awaiting whatever he cooks up next to make Din's Champion hit 'just right'. I think we all know it's possible. I just don't think it is doing that right now.
