Escape Simulator 2

Escape Simulator 2

You shouldn't ship the game without this... Seriously...
As a fan of ES1, I really think ES2 needs to have some survivability mechanics IN THE CUSTOM ROOM CREATOR. ES1 doesn't have high-stakes gameplay at all. You'll never die - there is no danger. Survivability mechanics would simply be some danger, something that could make you die, or lose, get a game over screen etc.

A lot of people have tried to do this, but the core part of the game does not make it possible. Period. Every attempt I've seen, flopped badly because of the lack of core support of ideas like these.

Sure, ES is a PUZZLE game, but that doesn't mean we can't have some intense scenes, actions, dangers, which will obviously be made by the community, since that's the only reason to buy ES1 or ES2. Don't do more of the same, with just a coat of gothic paint. Seriously, WTF, is that all? And some better graphics? Mehhhhhh....

Out of how many rooms I've seen, there's only one that you could get a game over screen because you died. And it was so lame because the game just doesn't have it in its' core. This is so lame, come to think of it. Another one had tons of traps in a dungeon, but no real danger... yawn...

I know the devs are trying to go for a more mature, less goofy look, which I think is perfect, but without this, what's the point? It'd be completely meaningless.

Having a "gothic" castle that you have to explore but there is no danger, it only looks kinda gothic. Meh, boring. Why even bother?

Also, how about some flashlight mechanics as well? What's the point of making a dark, gothic room without basic things like this? ES devs need to really wisen up.

Just gotta repeat it, I'm talking about the custom room creator. I don't care at all about official maps. The community needs the tools to make things happen and from what I've seen so far, ES2 will be more of the same. Absolutely pointless, to do this, then.

Obviously, these things are OPTIONAL, as having a darker, more mature map is also optional, but the possibility is there. Also obviously, this wouldn't work for a room that's just one cube, right? I'm talking about the big maps that can make this work.

So far I've been very disappointed in the devs, it took them years to add a simple save function that's barely functional -- it's just a checkpoint system. I've never even seen someone take years to do a simple checkpoint system, man(WTF?). So my expectations are very low for ES2. ES1 would be nothing without the community, so it's time to give them some serious tools, not this goofy stuff.

The devs have a chance to really make a hell of a good thing here, we would have some intense community-made rooms(because official rooms don't matter)with awesome horror gameplay, they'd get a big chunk of sales from horror fans and expand the audience, but so far the devs seem clueless and aimless -- just want a coat of paint and let the community use the same tools, the same way. Completely disappointing.

Hey, thanks for sharing your detailed feedback and ideas! We genuinely appreciate your passion and the dedication you clearly have for the game and the community.

Just to clarify, survivability mechanics won't be included in Escape Simulator 2. We're committed to our vision of keeping ES2 focused on puzzles and escape room simulation, now with a darker, more mature tone, but explicitly not horror or survival gameplay.

That said, while the core game won't include survivability mechanics, we're absolutely supportive of the creativity of the community and excited to see what players will create. Additionally, we haven't yet released detailed information about Room Editor 2.0 and its exact features.

Thanks again for your feedback and suggestion! We look forward to sharing more about ES2's development soon!
Survival mechanics in escape rooms is awful.

I'm waiting for the Respect DLC of that post. Cause I saw none on this version. I'll ask for a refund.

The central idea of this game is to figure out puzzles. Being able to figure out puzzles but unable to survive (however that may present itself) is antithetical to that central idea, and leads to frustration for the target audience.

I agree with everyone here. I remember that game with walking simulator + reading + exploration and enigmas mechanisms. I loved it and then, at the very end, a NPC appears and runs after you while the whole game was about you alone peacefully exploring and solving the mystery about the place where you were. It was so scary and disappointing for many players who just wanted to solve enigmas. :/ I'm glad Pine Studios will stick to their concept.
