Daily Challenge Chat

Hi all. I think the Daily Challenge is a big part of what makes Mini Metro fun. But there's sadly no good way to communicate with other daily challengers, and it's more fun to play against people than just names on a scoreboard.

So, I (and at least one more daily challenger) think it would be a good idea to have a thread (this thread) where people could say something/anything about today's challenge. For example, I've seen people expressing their happiness about getting good placements, in the screenshots section. Maybe this thread could serve that purpose. But it could also be used for more ongoing discussions.

I'll start by congratulating rinsul, whoever you are, for a very good (winning?) run today!

Thanks guth. And if anyone wants to improve their personal best in Istanbul, today might be a good day to do so! I got a personal high score and not far from the top 10 all-time list either (don't remember right now if I ended up on 15th or 19th place).

So guth, if you play today (despite it being a "normal map") and beat me - as you usually do, and I didn't play extremely optimal either - you might well end up on the all-time list.

Yes, whenever I place high on the Extreme days, it is just luck. But it is nice to be on the top 10!

This time in Cairo I was rather surprised; everything seemed to go my way - new stations popped up very close to my existing line ends (and one time a circle appeared exactly ON an existing line, just where I wanted it). It was my own lack of attention that brought me down; I was concentrating hard on saving a station on the left bank, and didn't realize that a station far to the right would overflow (I had two circles in a row there).

Concentrating on a certain station and forgetting other stations is something I do pretty often too. But this time it was the one I concentrated on that failed. I didn't think it would, though. Otherwise I might have been able to save it. Possibly.

I'm getting a bit worried that some people might think that my results on the Normal maps are a result of cheating. Now when guth is not playing Normal mode any longer, I often score 1000+ points more than the person on 2nd place. Maybe I too should stop playing Normal mode for a while.

Yeah, it seems my YouTube video on how to get high scores in normal mode didn't change anything. People still don't seem to play that way (or they're very bad at it). I posted it on Reddit too (on the MiniMetro subreddit, which seems to attract more people than this forum). There, I got *one* comment, saying "So that's where those extremely high scores come from". :)

Anyway, the main reason *I* don't play normal mode is that I don't think it's very fun, and that it takes too much time. But that the scores look fake is a part of it too. It's just so sad that there are so few extreme daily challenges...

OK, today Mini Metro actually made me late for work (I told my boss that I was late due to congestion on the Metro ).
Thing is, when I logged in, I saw that the current high score was around 2800 in Paris. OK, must be a difficult map with low scores and thus a short playing time, I thought. Maybe one hour. I was very wrong. In the end, I almost begged the game to pleeease kill me now!

No, it has not. But just look, I am _still_ 2000+ points ahead. That is not even fun.

I think it's so sad you can't trust the scoreboards in this game. It ruins all the fun of getting a good score. Unless the scoreboard changes, I think my score today looks a little suspicious, since there's currently so little difference between 2nd and 10th place. It kind of looks like I made it to a new week (getting new trains etc to help), but I didn't. Well, at least I don't win all days like nelson does. :)
I could upload my gameplay video from today, in case anyone want to see it. It proves I'm not cheating... :)

Extreme London 1960 today... one of my favorite maps. But I screwed up. 16th place with 16 hours to go, and far behind score-wise.
At least my replay went better...

Wow, three extreme maps in a row. Maybe you should be away more often, nelson. ;)

And today I got another chance at extreme London 1960. Went way better. Almost too good...?
