Personally, I'm a little annoyed by the two extreme maps so far this week, where I placed 11th and 12th. I don't think it's bad, it's just that it was right outside top 10. :|
I think I'll skip today's normal map, btw. I noticed that it takes a lot of points to try and win today, and that means *lots* of time spent making endless ghost lines. And I really don't like that. I often start a normal map, and later regret starting it. Like when I got around 8100 points on the Osaka challenge last week, the difficulty increased so slowly that I thought it would never end. Some people will probably say I should play the normal mode "normally", but not getting as many points as you can isn't fun either.
It would be fun to hear from more people you see on the scoreboards, like hikakoda, or the Goldfish guy with the complicated name, or IRMan that I don't think I've seen in a while, etc (I can't name you all). But all daily challengers are obviously very welcome to share their thoughts here. I guess most players don't read the forums, though.
I got my 909 by waiting for the stations to pop at least five. I had a closed circle line on the middle island. Then two lines reaching to all corners and another added to collect the bottom ones.
The DC one went terribly, as they were different spawns. I thought for extreme there would be the same rate and distance of spawnage so you can at least memorise it for your lines.
nelson, remember I felt the same way when I repeatedly tried to reach your score on an extreme map a few weeks ago. Nothing worked, no matter what I did. Today, things worked better. :)
By the end I had a short tunnel line going north, one line staying on the starting island, three tunnel lines going right, and one line on the right side only (the only one not connected to the square). I never use loops on extreme maps.
I understand that but I thought it would work differently for extreme due to the "creative" restraints. Yeah, I never play extreme hence why I closed a loop by accident, however, that worked out well whilst my DC try, I didn't do a closed loop and did terribly lol.
Btw, happy 2019 everybody!
