cheat mode?
it would be really interessting to have a mode with no ressource shortages and no objective like efficiency in endless mode

yeah, that would be cool

We have been thinking about this since early on the development of the game but we haven't committed to it because it would take some time/effort to implement, and we're not completely sure it would continue to be interesting without the constraints and would end up being time wasted.

Can you tell me a bit about why you think it would be neat, and why would you want to play the game this way?

I think a cheat mode in this game should give you infinite trains and waggons, but still keep the restriction of only 4 trains per line and only 6 lines per map, also infinite brigdes, tunnel and other crossings (what is in that level). Basically all resourcess that one can aquire on that specific level in infinite quantity.

I think it would be neat to see how much I can push a train System with infinite recources. honestly I play your game not because it is very interesting, but instead, cause it is a good way to kill time on the train, when I have no internet on my laptop and don't want to waste my mobile allowance and I want to see what I can do in a cheat mode. I just feel it needs to be in the game. have it unlockable tho, maybe something like 500 passengers in all levels or something like that.

I see what you mean. It kind of reminds me of the Koi Pond apps where it's all about watching the fish swim around and (once the scene/map is set up) occasionally being able to change the scene a bit by feeding the fish. Do you imagine it has a goal at all? For example, in Endless mode, you can increase the average number of people being delivered? Or is it full Koi Pond Mode?

I honestly don't know exactly what you are talking about, I don't game on mobile. for your game I imagine it to have a goal: make a transportation System, that can handle any number of high traffic. and a cheat mode would set this goal off and turn it into onee of these "Koi Pond" games.

Also I appreciate you answering in the dicussion section and interacting with the community, (at least pretending to) listen to feedback, that is unusual and really great. I never had that happen to me ever (mainly because I normally stick to big games and bought your game off of a gamestar video.

your game is in that sweetspot, where it is so casual, that I do not sit down and play it for an hour straight at home, but challenging enough, that I really like to play it in public transportation on my laptop. the good thing about this game is, that it is NOT koi pond mode, but it is also not realistically hard, so I get frustrated and throw my Laptop around the bus. it is the perfect casual game for the "hardcore"(tm) or more oldschool gamer, which I am. it is more in the vein of Tetris than in the vein of such a "Koi Pond" game. and as a oldschool kinda guy a(n) (unlockable) cheatmode felt missing.

Oh! Thank you! I like to hear what people are excited about / hoping for so we can try to make good decisions with what we spend our time on. We also have one of the nicest communities that I've ever encountered so it makes it easy to talk.

And I'm glad the game works for you. A lot of people seem to feel the same. It's a game you can play in-between more intense games. It holds your attention and has some deep parts, but doesn't feel like there's too much heavy lifting. As long as you have a bit of patience and don't mind slowing down a bit, it seems to make people happy.

So, to clarify "Koi Pond" games (at least as I see them in my head), they are almost more experiences than games in which you watch the fish swim around and occasionally "feed" them. They've got the same mesmerising feel as watching Mini Metro on Endless mode. I guess it's not quite the same as the point of "Cheat" mode (we sometimes call it "Sandbox" mode) would be to try a system with no restrictions, sit back and see how it works, then try something different and see if that works better.

Would you want goals, or would it be playing the game for the sake of itself (or something else)?

And so I can make a good distinction, what is Endless mode lacking (or have to much of)?

I want the game to still have the same goals and fail states as normally, just have infinite ressources, so if you don't connect a station for too long the mode ends.
Endless mode lacks the infinity of ressources (at some point you just can't get any more trains, waggons etc.)

actually I thing 2 cheat modes would be best: cheat normal and cheat endless (I can clearly understand why you would only inplement one). cheat normal for people who still want the feeling of cheating a challenge and cheat endless for that koi pond experience.

Endless Mode suffices as far as I'm concerned. Why have a puzzle game that allows you to bypass the puzzle?

I have some good news! We already have plans to extend the upgrades limit in Endless mode so the upgrades will continue to appear for even longer than before (we didn't think people would keep playing for so long!).

I am curious about the normal mode game that you mention though. I wonder if the game would still be fun if you can continuously get all of the resources that you want as it kind of makes the "Game Over" obsolete (because you'll always have enough resources to continue). When specifically thinking about a "cheat normal" mode, I personally agree with 2o2pBob Bunderfeld when he said:

Yes, you'd get to feel like you were cheating the system, but I feel like I'd play it once and then it would be boring because there wasn't any kind of challenge to it.

I can see where having all of the resources available to you would be fun in Endless mode though, as it's a different kind of challenge (a pensive puzzle instead of a high intensity puzzle). It almost speeds you up to the end where you can have all of the stations in front of you with all of the upgrades to make something fun without needing to wait for everything to appear.
