How's the AI/Singleplayer?
Somehow I missed this game coming out. I mean the physical kickstarter, original PC release, and even the Steam launch this year. Not sure how, considering I read Sirlin's stuff semi-regularly.

Anyhow, now that I'm super-late to the party, how are the AI and singleplayer offerings here? I doubt I'd get much multiplayer in, so SP would be where I'm looking for value.

There's bot matches and survival mode. About it. You can random select it and you can unlock the EX versions of the character through it. I personally do it quite a bit to figure out what works against certain characters to an extent. Their hand draw is pretty insane. I find it fun especially with pandora playing the background because the AI seems to know what to play and usually isn't dumb on hard. Survival AI isn't as intelligent, but that is because it is supposed to start off easier.

I do think that you're going to be missing a lot of this game from Single Player only.

The bot matches are not bad, in terms of the Yomibot AI. (The "Easy" AI, aka "Monkeybot", is a literally 100% random player, so if you play decently, you'll soundly beat them. It's not good for much.) I really like using it for the sake of learning how to play new characters...or against new characters. So you'll be able to get some gameplay out of that.

Truth be told, you do wind up missing a lot of the more interesting gameplay with AI-only, so I'd still recommend trying QM here and there, or just dropping by chat to see if anyone wants to play a custom match.

I only play against the hard AI when I play against computer opponents. The AI for each character is great for learning how to play against that character. When my brain gets in the mood for a 5-10 minute puzzle I find the Hard AI to be good for giving me that challenge.

Playing against human opponents will be more fun once you have a good understanding of how to face off against each character.

When looking for a game online, be sure to message it in the chat. Often someone else will see it and be interested in playing too.

I absolutely love this game, but I'm still a "noob" skill level wise, so playing against the Yomibot is plenty of a challenge for me.
