There is a story. It's not super in depth, but definitely more immersive than last year.

What nonsense are you saying LMAO. This Year has pretty much no story at all. The "Story" is that you can choose Goals you wanna reach till the All Star Break and End of Season and thats it. You got some "Trash Talk" Missions where you have to dominate another player and thats it.
You got no Rival,no beef with anyone,no quests outside of playing MyCareer Games. You also get way less VC since brand deals got nerfed like hell

the online is better than last year. PC finally got the upgrade. If by story you mean playing the game with a team and that sort of thing, its kinda cool. i play with the bucks. online, its fun to play with a squad. shooting is better. i havent played for 4 years but i was a 2k head and i know all the best players. 90%wp and top 5 center online but small community so.... if thats what you mean by myplayer i hope i helped. if youre talking about the story, i dont understand as there is virtually no story any year
