What even is your CPU. If you got a very old cpu that might be why. My cpu never gets above 68 degree when playing

85 degrees is also okay. Not optimal but I doubt it is near your TDP. What CPU? Most are TDP 90 for throttle and 100 for shut down. Do you know how much it is throttling?

12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700K 3.60 GHz. i honestly dont know to much about throttling thats why i figured someone else ran into issue with 2k. llike 70-75 is usually when i play a crazy demanding game so for 2k to to be overheating(my opinion)is crazy. ive even turned down quality of game made it 1080p instead of 1440p and i got temp down little bit but sucks there is no lik e fps setting or other stuff to help

was playing today and during mycareer game i hit 90 at one point idk whats going on

whats your cooling?

overclocked?

voltage?

noctua nh-15 i believe. i dont overclock. and how do i find volatge? also voltage of cpu?

thanks

hm not the best cooler for that CPU as it probably runs on its limits hence the higher temps.

for all kind of infos you can use: HWinfo (free)
https://rtech.support/docs/guides/hwinfo.html

While at it you can check how much power the CPU draws.

Or look up some voltage offsets (probably something like -0,05( and/or adjust the PL1/PL2 values in the BIOS (or Intel apps, they might even have an auto-test for it.).

But thats takes a bit of time as one as to test the settings for obvious reasons.

thats something i thought about new cpu cooler but everything else game wise runs ok this is the only game

well, different games affect the hardware in different ways.

I have simple clicker games running my GPU into the ground while games like 2k25 have a normal behavior for my setup.

But as it was mentioned before, I wouldn't worry about it. The CPU generation is known to run hot.
It also depends on your other cooling solutions (case fans) and if you have a case that has actual air flow or one of these stupid cases with sealed panels.

The CPU witl throttle if it runs too hot (aka performance will take a big hit) and/or just shuts off the PC, if that happens you should work on a solution.
i got a corsair 4000d plenty of fans. thats the thing i have no issues with game and gameplay literally the temp is the only issue. as i can play im more worried about longer playtime with temps like that casuing damage in the furture. never had a game do this except when i didnt relize i had the fps not capped and my pc push it to crazy fps with cap fix was fine. unfortunaly i dont really see and fps setting in 2k which is unfourtnate and i feel would be a good fix for a lot of pc gamers.

lol at this point id run 30fps 720p n be happy if i could ball with low temps XD

When dealing with high cpu temps always always ALWAYS check your cooling. Did you remove the plastic wrap before placing the cooler on your CPU? Did you apply thermal paste correctly? Are there other parts of the MB that are heating up and consequently the heat transfers over because the thermal paste dried up? (Happened to me once and I couldn't figure out why my CPU kept getting 85+ degrees)
2k is not a cpu bound game, it's weird that you'd get such high temps while playing it, so it's almost certainly an issue with your setup.

yea thats what im thinking its time to reapply thermal paste been awhile so makes sense to check that first and doesnt hurt
try to disable internet connection and close extra apps, it could be some mining software. remove cpu boost and set frequency to default in bios. if you still have low fps, and the cpu heats, then switch to water cooling or find a better one, buy a good thermal paste. make sure you have a normal pc case with perforated/mesh front, the full glass aquarium-like ones have awful airflow

ill definitely check those things out. i know partially it had to do with my fans and the proogram i use. went into bios as well and change the fan curve. i use a corsair commander pro hub. i have an extra fan and was wondering if i attach it if i can just plug it into fan1 on motherboard for power for the fan(no rgb) or if imake pc confused cuz trechnically there is a fan1 already thanks
80-90c is nothing to worry about while gaming/under load... not sure what everyone is bugging about. Processors are built to withstand up to 110c. Processors only "wear and tear" after constantly pushing 100c... it's not rocket science people.

80-90c is absolutely not a normal temperature while playing something like 2k25 and is something to be worried about.
It's not like the guy is trying to run some extremely demanding image processing software where the the CPU is being hammered.
It takes less than an hour to reapply thermal paste and it ensures you're not placing undue stress to your CPU
